A man dubbed 'The Human Ken Doll' after going through more than 1,000 procedures in 20 years has insisted that body modification is a form of 'art' and that he's motivated by creativity rather than being unhappy with his looks.
Justin Jedlina, 40, from Los Angeles , had his first cosmetic procedure aged 17 and went on to spend an estimated $1million on further surgeries, priding himself on being the most modified man in the world.
Speaking to Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond on This Morning, he said he sees cosmetic surgery as an expression of his creativity.
He went on to say his procedures had gone on to help people who needed to have reconstructive surgery, and said he would never encourage people who didn't need cosmetic surgery to go under the knife.
Justin Jedlina, 40, from Los Angeles, had his first cosmetic procedure aged 17 and went on to spend an estimated $1million on further modification, priding himself on being the most 'modified' man in the world
Reflecting on his history of resorting to cosmetic procedures, Justin he only felt he has truly 'needed' his first ever tweak.
'When I was younger, I had a lot of anxiety surrounding my nose, I thought it was large and by age 14, I knew it was something I wanted to fix,' he said.
He went on to explain his idols, who include Michael Jackson, Joan Rivers and Dolly Parton, all 'overstylised' their looks as they became more famous.
He had to wait to be of legal age to have his first surgery, which was the first of five nose jobs.
Speaking on This Morning, Justin, pictured, who's had more than 1,000 cosmetic procedures, said he views it as an 'artistry'
'For me, most of what I had after my first nose job, was a "want" in my life,' he said.
'I knew I didn't need them. I never felt my body was less than or was dissatisfied with it.'
'It really for me was a quest in my artistry and creativity, and an expression of the thing I found beautiful, not necessarily what the Western World found beautiful.'
He went on to say he was heavily involved in preparing his surgeries and had pioneering surgeries, such as back implants, and designed some of the implants that were put in his body.
'I conceptualised those surgeries, I custom-designed those implants,' he said, adding he perceives himself as an 'innovator' and a 'guinea pig'.
The cosmetic 'pioneer' said his work has helped people who need surgery for medical reasons, adding that the title Human Ken Doll makes him sound superficial
He went on to say some of the cosmetic procedures have 'opened the door' for people to have reconstructive surgeries if they have birth defects or have been injured in accidents.
He admitted not all his procedures were '100% successful or 90% right,' but said: 'When it comes to those procedures, there's always something I learned and educated myself.'
He said he disagreed with the statement that he was 'addicted' to plastic surgery, saying cosmetic surgery was already 'rampant' around the world.
'If we allow things to stay the same, there is no growth in that industry,' he said.
'It always takes someone to be the pioneer and be put out on the cross if you will,' he said.
Justin, pictured, said he wouldn't recommend plastic surgery to everyone and can tell when someone who comes to him for advice has body dysmorphia
Reflecting on his 'Human Ken Doll' moniker, Justin said he didn't particular feel concerned by the name.
'I did a segment on 20:20, which is an investigative journalism show, and they called me the Human Ken Doll,' he said.
'I can't say I have disdain for the name but it does make me sound a bit superficial.
'My quest is one of perfection, i don't really feel that way, I love the process of body modification as in artistry,' he said.
Justin said he didn't like the term 'cosmetic addiction' and told Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond that he was a 'guinea pig'
Justin has his own cosmetic surgery consulting business, which he started after his rise to fame, and helps people find the right procedures for them.
He added that there have been times where clients have 'body dysmorphia,' and that he won't put them forward for surgery.
'I couldn't get them a referral or advice because no other plastic surgeon would work on those people, it's rare that that happens but it does exist,' he said.

Where Does Each 'Stranger Things' Character End Up at the End of Season 4?

Real Life Barbie Valeria Lukyanova has met her match in the form of Human Ken doll Justin Jedlica . Days after GQ magazine ran an interview with Ukranian mode Lukyanova, the Daily Beast answered with a profile of her male counterpart , Jedlica.
The 32-year-old man from New York was first dubbed “The Human Ken Doll” in an October 2012 20/20 segment on extreme plastic surgery. In his latest interview, he spoke about his contentious relationship with Lukyanova, his extensive surgery history and the one thing he doesn’t have in common with the famous Mattel man.
Below, five things to know about the plastic surgery enthusiast.
1. He is not anatomically matched to Ken. While Ken had his trademark lack of genitals, a photo circulated this week that shows Jedlica in a close-fitting swimsuit, revealing a bulge. “I have all these haters on my page being like, ‘Does that mean you want to cut off your penis?’” he told the Daily Beast. “I’m like, ‘actually, I wish it was dragging on the ground like anime.'”
2. He has spent a whopping $170,000 on plastic surgery. Jedlica underwent his first surgery at the age of 18, going on to have a total of 149 procedures. “Three days after my 18th birthday I went in and did my first nose job, which is something I wanted from a really young age,” he said in the interview. “For me, that was something I needed to fix… I’ve had 149 cosmetic procedures — which is different than surgeries. I’ve probably had 19 actual full-on surgeries; even in those 19 surgeries I’ve had some combos where there have been several areas worked on.”
3. He is a gay, married man. Human Ken had a civil union ceremony to his partner in July, whom he has been with for five years. Jedlica says his husband is in support of his body alteration, explaining, “He tells me that my plastic surgery turns him on… he doesn’t have any qualms with it. It was something we talked about even before we got married, because I was like, ‘We’re not going to get married if you’re going to give me shit about my surgeries!’ He was like, ‘Oh, I know that’s part of you, it’s totally fine.’ He’s not opposed to having work done either. It really was a moot point; it wasn’t an issue at all. I think he thinks it’s kind of cool.”
4. He and Real Life Barbie are not a good match. “Valeria has been my arch nemesis ever since we met each other earlier this year,” Jedlica told the Daily Mail in November . He went on to add to the Daily Beast, “She’s interesting. I hate that people compare us, because she’s putting on the illusion of a mannequin. It is a little bit weird that she’s trying to be stoic, emotionless.”
5. Ken hasn’t been the main inspiration for his surgeries. Jedlica said in his Daily Beast interview that his main inspiration comes from Japanese anime manga, and added that he also took inspiration from Michael Jackson and Joan Rivers. “I don’t even know if I look like a Ken Doll, but if other people want to say I do, it’s flattering,” he said. “As a kid, you play with Ken dolls and kind of assume that is what a handsome guy is supposed to look like.”

See What “Human Ken Doll” Justin Jedlica Looked Like Before Plastic Surgery!

Human Ken Doll Justin Jedlica has been made famous for dropping half a million dollars on nearly 500 different cosmetic procedures. After appearing on E!’s hit plastic surgery show Botched , the 36-year-old skyrocketed to fame and began to consult on other people’s surgeries.
Most recently, the human doll helped to create the world’s first ever thigh implant targeted at women who want thicker legs.
“My client travelled for the procedure from out of the country and was very physically fit, but her body-type was fairly petite for a bodybuilder and she was having a hard time bulking-up,” Justin told Daily Mail just a few weeks ago. “She was struggling to put on the mass that she would turn into muscle, which I understand as I have a high metabolism and am very lean, so I designed an specialized implant to give her massive quads. She expressed she wanted to go extremely large, the leg equivalent of taking someone from an A-cup to a D-cup.”
Before experimenting on other people, though, Justin has had tons of practice altering his own body.
“I’ve had nearly every part of my body worked on,” Justin said . “I have a reputation of being one of the most extreme plastic surgery addicts in the world and I love continuing to push the limits.”
Though Justin’s claim to fame is his metamorphosis into “human doll,” in an interview with In Style he revealed that much of his passion around plastic surgery comes from the creative outlet it offers him.
“At first, I thought the title [‘Human Ken’] was a little bit silly and kind of dumbed down what I did with plastic surgery because everything I did required a lot of time and effort and I view what I do almost as art,” he said. “I do it for the purpose of being creative and I like that I can customize myself and set myself apart as an individual. That’s what I think is cool about it—the idea of being a nonconformist, and you’re not doing what everyone else is telling you.”
