“Quickies can be a good part of your sex life because it helps couples keep some eroticism in the air,” says New York City sex therapist Ian Kerner , Ph.D., author of She Comes First .
There are a few reasons to add quickies to your sexual rotation, says Jessica O’Reilly, sex educator and host of the @SexWithDrJess Podcast . One is that they can help you have sex more often. Another is it takes the pressure off of you and your partner to have long-lasting sex. Plus, it can be more exciting than slower sex, especially if you have to sneak around to make it happen.
To truly max out your quickie sex sesh:
1. Lube it up. It can take women longer than men to build up arousal, Kerner explains, and you might not be able to get wet in the time it takes for you to rip each other’s clothes off. Plus, your options for technique and positions increase the more you’re lubricated, O’Reilly says.
2. Use a vibe. “Sometimes when it comes to orgasms and quickie sex, women can get shortchanged a little bit,” Kerner says. If you know you’re not going to come during a quick romp of just penetrative sex, add your vibrator to the mix to make sure you finish just like your partner, he recommends.
3. Make it a fantasy. “It’s nice to pair quickie sex with some kind of psychological stimulation,” Kerner says. So, walk up to your partner and whisper in their ear, “I just want to push you up against a wall and do you” or start acting out a fantasy that you’ve both talked about before. “Psychological stimulation is part of what makes a quickie gratifying,” Kerner says.
4. It doesn’t have to be penetrative sex. Giving your partner a quick BJ, having them go down on you, or doing a little 69 can be “sexy in its own right,” Kerner says.
And when the mood strikes, there are some great positions that make it easier to drop your pants and get busy right away.
How to do it: Bend at the waist and rest your hands on a piece of furniture or your knees for support. When your partner enters you from behind, have them hold you by the hips and reach around to caress your clitoris for extra stimulation.
