Early in her career, she won critical praise for several supporting roles. One reviewer said that she played her part in Notes on a Scandal (2006) with "petulance and angst", [7] while her performance as Lola Quincey in Atonement (2007) was called "impressive". [8] She auditioned to play Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), [9] though the role ultimately went to Evanna Lynch . In 2009, Temple played Eema in the comedy Year One alongside Jack Black and Michael Cera , Anna in Jaco Van Dormael 's Mr. Nobody , and Di Radfield in the film adaptation of Sheila Kohler 's novel, Cracks . That same year she played Dottie in Killer Joe , a role Temple received after sending an unsolicited audition tape to the movie's casting director. [12] She also starred in Elgin James ' s 2011 film Little Birds . James offered her the choice of playing either of the two female leads and she chose to portray Lily, citing that she connected with the character more and "wanted to set her free". [13] Temple and James worked on Little Birds together for two years, and continued to collaborate afterwards, [14] referring to each other as "best friends" [15] and "family" in interviews. [16] James has said he made Little Birds to honor the strong women in his life, including Temple. [14] That same year, she was named a Brit to Watch by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts . [17]

In 2012, she appeared in The Dark Knight Rises , as a "street-smart Gotham girl", [18] and portrayed Diane in the lesbian werewolf tale Jack & Diane . [19] In February 2013, Temple won the EE Rising Star BAFTA Award , voted for by the public. [20] [21]

Temple had a supporting role as Deborah Hussey in the 2015 true-crime film Black Mass , which starred Johnny Depp ; and played Jamie Vine, an A&R assistant for the fictional American Century record company, in the 2016 HBO series Vinyl . A version of this story on Juno Temple first appeared in the print edition of TheWrap Magazine’s Comedy/Drama/Actors Emmy Issue .
“It’s about sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, and everyone likes at least one of those things,” said actress Juno Temple about “Vinyl,” the HBO series that dives headlong into the seamiest sides of the New York rock scene of the 1970s.

”I split my jumpsuit,“ the breakout star of Martin Scorsese’s and Mick Jagger’s punk-era HBO series tells TheWrap
While the show, whose creators include Terence Winter, Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese , picked up mixed reviews for its overheated squalor, Temple is a standout as the record company assistant who turns out to have better ears and sharper instincts than her bosses.

The 26-year-old British actress plays American in “Vinyl,” and said she enjoyed the experience except for the occasional occupational hazard.
“I split my jumpsuit once,” she admitted. “I was wearing a beautiful silk jumpsuit from the actual ’70s, all black with a thong underneath, and the ass gave way. The on-set photographer was the one who told me, so that was pretty embarrassing.”

But the advantage of a show about music, she added, came in the way it connected with fans. “Rather than saying, ‘Oh, my God, I love your show,’ people come up to me and say, ‘Do you want to know the first vinyl I bought and why?'” she said. “It’s cool to get to know people through what music they like.”

Memories of the complex antihero haven’t aged well in the eye of his creator
Walter White was never meant to wear a white hat, but the man who would become Heisenberg was still someone “Breaking Bad” fans rooted for — to a point.
But time and distance can reshape perspectives, even for Vince Gilligan, “Breaking Bad” creator and executive producer, who seems to have had a complete change of heart about his complex antihero. In a Q&A with The New Yorker, Gilligan bites hard on the hand of the protagonist that fed him for five Emmy-heavy seasons. And his opinion of Walter White only worsens with time.
“The further away I get from ‘Breaking Bad,’ the less sympathy I have for Walter,” Gilligan said, moments after musing on a much sunnier recent ending for his spinoff series “Better Call Saul.”
“[Walt] got thrown a lifeline early on,” Gilligan said. “And, if he had been a better human being, he would’ve swallowed his pride and taken the opportunity to treat his cancer with the money his former friends offered him.”
While Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill “finds a little bit of his soul” (and also survives) in a redemptive final episode of “Saul,” Bryan Cranston’s Walter White went down in a hail of gunfire by his own design, a moment that “Breaking Bad” fans saw as heroic at best, self-actualizing at worst.
“He goes out on his own terms, but he leaves a trail of destruction behind him,” Gilligan said. “I focus on that more than I used to.”
Whatever had us rooting for White at the height of his Heisenberg powers was hiding a trove of character flaws, Gilligan said, that just haven’t aged well.
“After a certain number of years, the spell wears off,” he said. “Like, wait a minute, why was this guy so great? He was really sanctimonious, and he was really full of himself. He had an ego the size of California. And he always saw himself as a victim. He was constantly griping about how the world shortchanged him, how his brilliance was never given its due. When you take all of that into consideration, you wind up saying, ‘Why was I rooting for this guy?'”
Though Walter White is a long-dead fictional character from a TV show that ended in 2013, Gilligan might be mindful of his creation’s own words: “You cross me, and there will be consequences.”
The ”Game of Thrones“ prequel is off to a fiery start
HBO's "House of the Dragon" scorches an impressive premiere viewership. (HBO)
“House of the Dragon,” HBO’s nearly $200 million attempt to franchise “Game of Thrones” with a blockbuster prequel spinoff, secured 9.986 million viewers across linear and HBO Max platforms in its Sunday night premiere, the network said Monday.
It marked the largest audience for any new original series in the history of HBO and the largest series launch on HBO Max across the U.S., LatAM, and EMEA markets. The network noted that Sunday night viewership for an HBO series typically represents 20% to 40% of the show’s total gross audience, leaving room for bigger totals to roll in in the coming weeks.
It was an impressive start for the expensive fantasy series, which is the first “GoT” spinoff to receive a greenlight to series at HBO. The brand’s high-profile certainly helped establish a solid floor of viewership. Remember, “Game of Thrones” premiered in 2011 with “only” 2.22 million live linear viewers.
“It was wonderful to see millions of ‘Game of Thrones’ fans return with us to Westeros last night. ‘House of the Dragon’ features an incredibly talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into the production, and we’re ecstatic with viewers’ positive response,” Casey Bloys, chief content officer, HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing with audiences what else George, Ryan, and Miguel have in store for them this season.”
The “Game of Thrones” series finale was watched by a record 19.3 million live multiplatform viewers in 2019, including the most-watched single telecast HBO ever recorded with 13.6 million linear live viewers. The final se
