Junior Research Analyst

Junior Research Analyst

Digital nomads. Work from anywhere

Company: JHC Consulting

JHC Consulting is an independent advisory practice that provides counsel to heads of industry, board committees, and chief executives. We are a small, deliberate firm focused on governance, strategy, and leadership questions where the internal view requires external challenge. For our current work with a leading European financial services group, we require a Junior Research Analyst to support our principals in gathering evidence and testing the validity of corporate claims. This is a full-time, permanent position conducted in a fully remote environment. We believe that written argument produces sharper thinking than conversation, and this role is designed for someone who shares that conviction.
The Role
In this role, your primary task is the rigorous reading of internal documents, regulatory filings, and market reports. You will assist in the preparation of signed memoranda that provide our clients with a dissenting read of their own internal cases. Unlike typical consulting roles, you will not spend time building slide decks or participating in unnecessary meetings. Instead, you will focus on identifying the gaps between a company's narrative and its actual performance.
Day-to-day duties involve synthesizing large amounts of information from the financial services sector into clear, written briefs. You will verify the source material for specific corporate strategies, track assumptions back to their origins, and maintain the firm bibliography for our active mandates. Because every engagement results in a permanent written record, your work must be precise and your citations must be beyond reproach.
What You Bring
We are looking for individuals with high intellectual maturity and a strong command of the written word. This is an entry level role suitable for a recent graduate or someone early in their career who prefers deep work over corporate ceremonies. You should have a foundational understanding of financial statements and corporate governance, though specific industry expertise is less important than your logical clarity and curiosity.
Writing is the primary requirement for this role. You must be able to draft clear, grammatical, and persuasive prose that avoids jargon and remains objective. You should be comfortable working independently and managing your own reading schedule without constant supervision. A background in the humanities, social sciences, or economics can be helpful, provided it has prepared you to read difficult texts and produce organized written arguments under a deadline.
How We Work
At JHC Consulting, the document is the work. We do not offer verbal presentations as a final product. Every piece of advice we provide is authored by a specific person who takes full responsibility for the claims made within. As a Junior Research Analyst, your name will be associated with the research you provide, and you will learn the discipline of defending your findings in writing rather than through rhetoric.
We follow a single author model where one person is responsible for the final draft of a memorandum. This ensures that our thinking is consistent and that our voice remains authoritative. We value the courage to name uncomfortable truths and the willingness to question conventional wisdom. Our firm is small by design, accepting only a few mandates each quarter to ensure that every document receives the thorough reading it deserves.
Working at JHC Consulting
This position is fully remote, allowing you the autonomy to structure your day in the way that best supports deep focus. We do not have a central office and we do not travel for routine client meetings. We value the discipline of remote work and expect our analysts to be self-reliant and communicative. The firm provides a professional environment where your intellectual growth is tied directly to the quality of your written output.
The position is paid, and the compensation is competitive for the entry level market. We offer a stable, long term role for researchers who want to avoid the typical churn of the advisory industry. You will have the opportunity to learn from principals with backgrounds in corporate finance and institutional asset management, gaining exposure to high level strategic questions that few entry level professionals encounter.
The work we do is often sensitive and requires a high degree of discretion. Because our memoranda are often held on file for years as a record of board level counsel, we maintain an exacting standard for every page we produce. Joining JHC Consulting means committing to a career where the signed word is the ultimate measure of professional value. We look for individuals who take this responsibility seriously and who find satisfaction in the quiet rigor of thorough analysis.
