Junior Reporting Analyst

Junior Reporting Analyst

Digital nomads. Work from anywhere

Company: Olive Tree Consulting Group

We are looking for a Junior Reporting Analyst to support a major South African retail group as they expand their operations. This role is about creating clear visibility for the leadership team so they can see where their processes are working and where they need to adjust. It is a full-time, permanent position that is fully remote, allowing you to contribute to a significant international project from your own workspace.
About the Role
At Olive Tree, we help clients bridge the gap between their strategy and what actually happens on the ground. For this retail expansion, that means tracking a lot of moving parts across different departments. The Junior Reporting Analyst provides the data backbone for our advisors. You will not just be moving numbers around: you will be helpfully organizing information so that the management team can make decisions based on facts rather than guesses. This role exists to ensure that our recommendations are supported by clear, readable evidence.
What You Will Do
* Gathering data from various sources to update weekly status reports.
* Checking figures for accuracy to ensure the advisory team has reliable information.
* Creating simple charts and tables that make complex information easier to read.
* Maintaining the central record of project milestones and completion rates.
* Helping to write brief summaries that explain what the data means for the project.
* Attending remote team syncs to understand what metrics are most important for the week ahead.
* Updating internal documentation so that our client records remain current and organized.
* Identifying gaps in data collection and suggesting small, practical improvements.
What We Are Looking For
* A high level of comfort with numbers and a natural curiosity about what they represent.
* Extreme attention to detail (you are the person who notices when a total does not add up).
* The ability to write in plain English, avoiding jargon and fluff.
* A calm approach to deadlines and the ability to organize your own day in a remote setting.
* A belief that a simple, clear report is better than a long, complicated one.
* Patience for the repetitive parts of data entry and verification.
* Willingness to ask questions when a data point looks unusual or confusing.
Helpful Background
* Basic familiarity with spreadsheet tools like Excel or Google Sheets.
* Experience from university projects or internships where you had to present findings.
* A general understanding of how businesses operate or how retail supply chains work.
* Experience writing reports or structured essays during your studies.
* Exposure to basic data visualization concepts.
* A reliable internet connection and a comfortable home working setup.
What We Offer
This position is fully remote, giving you the flexibility to work from wherever you are most productive. We provide a professional environment where you will learn how high-level management decisions are actually made. The role is paid, and we offer a salary that is competitive for the entry level market. You will be part of a team that values your time and focus, favoring clear written communication over unnecessary meetings.
About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems; they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company's growth.
We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own. The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
