Junior Data Operations Analyst
Digital nomads. Work from anywhereCompany: Pixel Systems
We are bringing on a Junior Data Operations Analyst to support our current engagement with an international financial services partner. Much of this work involves the heavy lifting of data: making sure information flows correctly between their existing internal systems and the new tools we are building for them. You will be helping us keep their databases clean and their automated reports running accurately. This is a full-time, fully remote position where you will focus on the practical details of data management and integrity.
About Pixel Systems
We are a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use. We do not spend our time on flashy marketing sites or the latest tech fads. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us because we are straightforward. We provide fixed quotes, show our work every week through demos, and hand over everything (the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos) when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain.
The role
As a Junior Data Operations Analyst, your day is mostly about the data itself. You will be working with our developers to map out how information should move from one system to another. Sometimes that means writing scripts to clean up messy spreadsheets so they can be imported into a database without errors. Other times, it means checking that an API integration is correctly pulling financial records. You will spend a lot of time looking at database tables, identifying inconsistencies, and fixing them. It is not high-profile work, but it is the work that ensures the systems we build are actually useful for our financial services partner. Since we are a remote shop, you will spend your time in our task management tools and document everything you do so the rest of the team stays in the loop.
What we are looking for
We need someone who is organized and enjoys the process of getting data in order. Since this is an entry-level role, you do not need years of professional experience, but you should be the kind of person who double-checks their own work and pays attention to small details (like whether a date format is consistent across a file). You should be comfortable working on your own while staying connected with our team through written communication. Being able to explain why a data error happened in plain English is more important to us than knowing every complex database query. We value people who are happy to dig into a boring spreadsheet to find a broken link because they know it matters for the final product.
Helpful background
While we will help you get up to speed, it is useful if you have a bit of experience with a few basic tools. These are not strict requirements, but they will help you get started:
* A general understanding of how databases work, specifically SQL-based systems like Postgres.
* Experience using GitHub to manage projects or track changes in your work.
* Basic knowledge of how APIs work to move data between different software programs.
* Some familiarity with JavaScript or Node, as these are the primary tools we use.
* The ability to use Excel or Google Sheets for more than just basic lists.
* A preference for simple, working solutions over complex ones.
Working at Pixel Systems
Working here is different from a typical corporate job. We are a small team without layers of middle management. You will work directly with our senior developers and see how software projects are handled from start to finish. We value work that is finished and functional. Because we are a fully remote team, we rely heavily on clear writing and regular check-ins. The position is paid, and we offer a salary that is competitive for the role and the current market. There are no frantic all-nighters or sudden changes in direction here. We plan our work, we stick to the schedule, and we ship tools that solve real operational headaches for our partners.
We are more interested in your ability to learn and your attention to detail than a long list of previous jobs. We build software that supports the day-to-day operations of businesses, and that requires a steady hand and a focus on accuracy. If you like the idea of working in a small, quiet, and deliberate environment where the goal is to build things that work, you will fit in well here. We focus on getting the job done right so that our clients can stop worrying about their data and get back to their own work.
