Junior Data Engineer

We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer with a strong understanding of financial markets to join our team. In this role, you will primarily focus on ensuring data quality and integrity within our financial datasets. You will work closely with senior analysts to collect, validate, and clean data while also providing support to our clients. RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Collection and Validation:

• Collect and validate financial data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct thorough quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies in the data.
• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline data collection processes and improve efficiency.

Data Cleaning and Standardization:

• Clean and preprocess raw data to prepare it for analysis, including handling missing values and outliers.
• Standardize data formats and coding conventions to maintain consistency across datasets.
• Develop and implement data cleaning routines and automated scripts to enhance data quality.

Data Analysis Support:

• Assist senior analysts in analyzing financial datasets to identify anomalies.
• Conduct basic statistical analysis and generate summary reports.

Financial Markets Knowledge:

• Stay updated on financial market trends, news, and regulatory developments.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of financial instruments, such as stocks, bonds, derivatives, and indices.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain documentation of data sources, methodologies, and quality control procedures.
• Prepare regular reports on data quality metrics and findings for management review.
• Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

Linux Environment Expertise:

• Utilize Linux-based systems and tools for data management, analysis, and automation tasks.
• Leverage shell scripting and command-line utilities for efficient data processing and manipulation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of financial markets, including concepts such as trading, investment vehicles, and market indices.
• Proficiency in Excel and SQL for data manipulation and analysis. Experience with Python is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with a critical eye for data quality and accuracy.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
