As the fictional US vice president in HBO's Veep, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is used to dodging scandals.
The 53-year-old actress raises some heated controversy of her own with a hilarious and nude photo spread in the May issue of GQ Magazine.
Julia - who posed naked on a recent Rolling Stone cover - doffs her clothes again to pose in a bed with a red-haired, bare-backed clown after what looks like a raucous party.
Clowning around: Julia Louis-Dreyfus got naked and pretended to be getting amorous with a clown in a shockingly funny photo spread in the May issue of GQ, which hits stands on April 29
The star is seen lying amidst the rumpled sheets and pillows wearing just a clownish red nose while grasping her partner's back and frizzy red head.
Other pieces of clownish attire are strewn about to further elaborate the point that it's all a joke.
The satirical pictorial begins with Julia dressed up in a clingy black and ivory flowered dress and living it up at a party with all sorts of clowns.
Naked truth: The Veep star posed butt-naked and sporting a faux tattoo of the US Constitution for the cover of Rolling Stone earlier this month
'She is the machine': Julia described her character, Selina Meyer, as 'a mangled, bloodied, pulpy working mess'
The nearly naked picture of Julia and her shirtless funny man follows, and then Julia is seen posing in bed and wearing a robe and an expression that might say, 'Oops.'
The final photo features a smiling Julia posing with her comical fellow and holding a cherub-cheeked baby dressed in a circus costume and face paint.
Julia was named one of the 15 funniest people, along with Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, John Oliver, Kate McKinnon, Kevin Hart, Nick Kroll and others, in the magazine that hits newsstands on April 29.
And it's all thanks to Julia's scathingly funny role as veep Selina Meyer on the HBO series now in its third season with a fourth on the way.
Golden touch: Julia, who was pictured at a television event on March 27, is no doubt smiling now that HBO has ordered a fourth season of Veep
'When you lose your moral center, it’s easy to get pissed off,' Julia said when describing her character. 'Selina has been eaten by the machine, but also, she is the machine. She’s a mangled, bloodied, pulpy working mess.'
Just don't compare Selina to Julia because they are not the same, as the star told GQ: 'I don’t have a s**t-ton of baggage. There’s not some grotesque, dark thing.'
Thanks to her performance in Veep, Julia has picked up two Emmy awards.
Her co-star, former Arrested Development star Tony Hale, 43, also won a Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series for his portrayal of Selina's personal aide Gary Walsh.
HBO announced it was ordering another batch of episodes via Twitter: 'Selina Meyer is running for President! Veep renewed for 4th season! Call 202-688-3894 for a special msg. from Selina.'
Out of the frying pan, into the fire: Julia was surrounded by silly guys on the 1990s sitcom Seinfeld and now she's among silly politicians on Veep

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has bravely ventured into territory few women in their 50s have gone before her.
The actress and comedienne has posed topless for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine - on newsstands on Friday - her back turned to the camera as she looks over her shoulder, eyebrows raised, mouth open in a cheeky manner, clad in nothing but the United States Constitution.
The brazen brunette is rather accurately dubbed the 'First lady of comedy' in the coverline as they follow her journey from Seinfeld sidekick to the Vice President of the United States in her hit HBO series Veep, which kicked off its third season on Sunday.
'The first lady of comedy': Julia Louis-Dreyfus is clad in nothing more than the words of her founding fathers, the United States Constitution written on her back as she poses topless for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, on newsstands on Friday
'I think I'm about to get some more Twitter followers...' she tweeted on Tuesday, before sharing a sneak peek photo of the magazine cover with comment: 'In my defense, "I was in a drunken stupor" #crackexcuse.'
The 53-year-old is fresh-faced and fabulous in the image, with her dark locks styled in voluminous, tousled waves cascading around her.
She holds her hands up to cover her modesty, while the tiniest hint of her derrière can be seen.
'I think I'm about to get some more Twitter followers...' The actress and comedienne - pictured in LA on March 27 - tweeted her fans with a sneak peek of the cover, joking, 'In my defense, "I was in a drunken stupor" #crackexcuse'
On to a good thing: The star plays Vice President of the United States Selina Meyer in hit HBO series Veep, which kicked off its third season on Sunday
In the accompanying interview, the mom-of-two opens up about the freedom of speech that comes with having a show on the cable network, which has less strict guidelines when it comes to language and nudity.
'Once, when we were trying to come up with the particular perfect, horrible, swear-y thing to say in Veep, I said, "You do realise that if we were 12, we would get in big trouble for this conversation,"' she laughs.
'That was not part of the curriculum in high school, and the fact that it is now a part of the curriculum of my life is a pleasure, which is the understatement of the universe.'
Contributing editor Vanessa Grigoriadis, who conducted the candid interview, also notes that a Senate aid confirms to the publication that Veep is 'way more realistic than House Of Cards... It works because it's revealing truths.'
'There is sexism – I'm not denying its existence. But I will deny its effort against me': The political satire has proved a ratings winner for the cable network, with two Emmy wins, a SAG and a Critics' Choice Television Award for the 53-year-old's rousing performance
'It's way more realistic than House Of Cards': The star has been praised by an unnamed Senate aid, who tells the publication the show is more well-regarded than its counterpart, starring Kevin Spacey - seen here chatting with Julia at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner in Washington, DC last April
While she may be one of the country's top comedic exports, Julia admits she's experienced her fair share of sexism during her illustrious career - which includes four Golden Globe nominations and one win, as well as 16 Emmy nods including four wins for her TV work alone.
'There is sexism – I'm not denying its existence,' she says. 'But I'm saying that I will deny its effort against me. I just pay it no nevermind and say, "Get out of my way."'
Despite the fact that her father, Gérard Louis-Dreyfus, is a billionaire who runs the Louis Dreyfus Corporation, the actress stands apart from her wealthy family, insisting she is far from in the same league when it comes to her own personal wealth, contrary to reports.
'I've been attached to that,' she says. 'It's unbelievable, because whatever I do, people just assume it's true. Welcome to the f***in' Internet.'
A knack for comedy: The star won a legion of fans as brash sidekick Elaine in '90s sitcom Seinfeld, alongside Michael Richards, Jason Alexander and Jerry Seinfeld (from left)
