The film was dedicated "In loving memory of Irene Columbus ", director Chris Columbus 's mother, who died of cancer the year before the movie was released.
Ben surprises Isabel by hiding inside the kitchen cabinets. However, in the next shot of the open cabinets you can see clearly that there was no space for him to fit inside.

Good Drama With Some Good Performances.
Stepmom is a really good drama. Their are some very sad moments in the movie but their are also some funny ones too. Julia Roberts stars as Isabel, who is of course the 'Stepmom' and what a brilliant job Julia does. Other good performances come from Ed Harris who plays Luke, Isabel's boyfriend and Susan Sarandon who plays Jackie, Luke's ex-wife. Jena Malone and Liam Aiken also do quite a good job as Luke's kids Anna and Ben. The music in the movie is really nice too. I give Stepmom a 9/10.

Isabel : You know, I never wanted to be a mom. Sharing it with you... that's one thing. It's another to be looking over my shoulder for the next twenty years, knowing someone else would have done it better... someone else would have done it right.
Jackie Harrison : What do you have that I don't?
Isabel : You're Mother Earth, incarnate.
Jackie Harrison : You're... hip, and fresh.
Isabel : You know every story, every wound, every memory. Their whole life's happiness is wrapped up in you... every single second. Don't you get it? Look down the road to her wedding. I'm in a room alone with her, fixing her veil, fluffing her dress, telling her no woman has ever looked so beautiful. And my fear is she'll be thinking, "I wish my mom was here."
Jackie Harrison : And mine is... she won't.

The “Pretty Woman” star is pretty in pink.
Julia Roberts turned heads on Christmas Eve when she hit the beach with her family in Sydney, Australia.
The actress, 54, highlighted her lean legs and fit figure in a bright pink one-piece swimsuit for the holiday outing. She was joined by her husband, Danny Moder, who flaunted his abs by going shirtless.
The couple took some time away from their busy schedules to spend the holidays together. Paparazzi at one point captured the two taking a sweet stroll along the beach.
Roberts covered up in a paisley pullover dress, while Moder, 52, wore a long-sleeve tee. They both rocked trucker hats to shade their faces from the sun.
The happy couple even showed off a little PDA, when Roberts wrapped her arms around her husband and kissed his neck.
All three of their children were in tow: twins Phinnaeus and Hazel, 17, and Henry, 14.
Roberts has been in Australia for the past few months to shoot her next rom-com, “Ticket to Paradise.”
The Ol Parker-directed film also stars her longtime friend and co-star George Clooney, Kaitlyn Dever, Lucas Bravo and Billie Lourd.
Just one week before the Christmas holiday, Roberts crashed Clooney’s virtual interview for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” by slowly sliding into frame until she was shoulder-to-shoulder with the actor during the interview.
“George, I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but the woman sitting next to you…,” Kimmel, 54, pointed out, once he realized Roberts had joined the call.
Clooney, 60, was clearly in on the joke, and pretended not to see Roberts.
The actress wore large black sunglasses and stayed silent the entire time she was on screen before eventually sliding back out of view.
“Maybe I hallucinated that,” Kimmel joked. “Wow. It sure looked like Julia Roberts, though.”
