Julian Bond , in full Horace Julian Bond , (born January 14, 1940, Nashville , Tennessee , U.S.—died August 15, 2015, Fort Walton Beach , Florida), U.S. legislator and Black civil rights leader, best known for his fight to take his duly elected seat in the Georgia House of Representatives.
Bond, who was the son of prominent educators, attended Morehouse College in Atlanta , Georgia , where he helped found a civil rights group and led a sit-in movement intended to desegregate Atlanta lunch counters. In 1960 he joined in creating the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and he later served as communications director for the group. In 1965 he won a seat in the Georgia state legislature, but the body refused to seat him because of his endorsement of SNCC’s statement opposing U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War . The voters in his district reelected him in both a special election and a regular election in 1966, but the legislature barred him each time. Finally, in December 1966, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the exclusion unconstitutional, and Bond was sworn in on January 9, 1967.
Bond maintained that African Americans were being excluded from power within the Democratic organization in Georgia, and therefore he helped lead an insurgent delegation at the Democratic National Convention in 1968; Georgia’s official delegation was forced to yield half its seats to members of Bond’s group. He seconded the nomination of Eugene McCarthy and became the first Black man to have his name placed in nomination for the vice presidential candidacy of a major party. Younger than the minimum age required for the position under the Constitution , however, Bond withdrew his name.
Bond served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1967 to 1975 and in the Georgia Senate from 1975 to 1987. In 1986 he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives . In addition to his legislative activities, Bond served as the first president (1971–79) of the Southern Poverty Law Center . He also served as president (1978–89) of the Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and then as chairman (1998–2010) of the national organization.

Other Facts: Was the first African-American to have his name placed in nomination for vice president of the United States. He could not accept the nomination because he was only 28 years old, which is under the age of eligibility according to the Constitution.
His father, Horace Mann Bond, became the first African-American president of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.
Timeline: March 1960 - Is arrested during a student protest of the segregated Atlanta City Hall cafeteria.
1960 - Is a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).
1961-1966 - Serves as the communications director of the SNCC.
1961 - Leaves college and begins working for the Atlanta Inquirer newspaper.
1965 - Is elected to the Georgia House of Representatives. He is not seated because House members oppose his outspoken views against the Vietnam War.
1966 - The US Supreme Court rules that the Georgia House of Representatives must seat Bond.
1967-1974 - Serves in the Georgia House of Representatives.
1968 - Is part of a challenge delegation from Georgia that successfully unseats Georgia's regular Democrats at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
1968 - Is nominated as vice president of the United States. He withdraws his name because the Constitution's age requirement is 35 and Bond, at 28, is too young.
1971-1979 - President of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
1974-1989 - President of the NAACP Atlanta chapter.
1975-1986 - Member of the Georgia Senate.
April 9, 1977 - Hosts "Saturday Night Live."
1980-1997 - Hosts the show "America's Black Forum."
April 2, 1985 - Is arrested outside the South African Embassy while protesting against apartheid.
1986 - Loses the election for US House of Representatives to John Lewis.
March 1987 - Bond's estranged wife, Alice Clopton Bond, makes public accusations that Bond and other Atlanta public figures are cocaine users. She later retracts her statements.
1990 - Is ordered to pay $2,000 a month in child support to Deborah Kaye Moore after acknowledging he is the father of her daughter, Mia Moore.
1992-2012 - Professor at the University of Virginia teaching courses on civil rights.
2002 - Receives the National Freedom Award.
August 15, 2015 - Dies in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, after a brief illness.

Par chance, son avocat l'embauche comme archiviste dans son cabinet. Mais en classant des documents, Erin découvre une affaire d'empoisonnement et décide de se jeter dans la bataille. Un film puissant, inspiré d'une histoire vraie.
Cette fois-ci on plonge en 1953. Julia Roberts incarne Katherine Watson, une jeune femme féministe qui vient d'être diplômée de l'université de Berkeley. Lorsqu'elle intègre l'école pour filles de Wellesley pour y enseigner l'histoire de l'art, elle est décidée à inspirer ses étudiantes à devenir qui elles souhaitent, en dépit des conventions. 
Dans Valentine's Day , Julia Roberts est aux côtés de nombreux acteurs, tels qu'Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper , Jessica Alba et Patrick Dempsey . Cette comédie romantique relate les destins croisés de couples qui se retrouvent et de célibataires qui se rencontrent, tout cela le jour de Saint-Valentin .
Encore un classique pour Julia Roberts. Mange, prie, aime raconte l'histoire de Liz Gilbert, pour qui la décision de prendre une année sabbatique va changer sa vie. Pendant un voyage merveilleux, elle va retrouver le plaisir de manger en Italie, le pouvoir de la prière en Inde, et la paix intérieure à Bali.
17 ans plus tard, on retrouve Julia Roberts dans Wonder , un drame qui nous fait sourire et pleurer. Elle joue la mère aimante d'August Pullman est un petit garçon né avec une malformation du visage, qui rentre en CM2 alors qu'il n'avait jamais pu aller à l'école avant. Malgré des obstacles, il finira par unir les gens autour de lui.
Après plusieurs mois d'absence, Ben, 19 ans, toxicomane, revient dans sa famille le jour de la veille de Noël . Julia Roberts interprète sa mère, Holly, qui l’accueille à bras ouverts et est prête à tout pour le protéger. Elle redoute cependant qu’il ne cède une fois de plus à ses addictions.
