Jordyn and her mother, Kelly, moved to Los Angeles in February to break into the entertainment industry and so far the risk has been rewarding, they said.

“I love living in L.A. It’s much better than Michigan, but I always want to go back and see my friends. I also miss Bigby Coffee. They don’t have it out here,” Jordyn said during a phone interview from L.A.
Jordyn said Miller, who is known as a strict dance instructor, was hard on them at times, especially when the cameras were on.
“Off camera and when they’re not rolling, she was really nice and is an awesome person. When the cameras go on, she has to be her character,” Jordyn said.
Jordyn also said she made some friends on the show.
“We got to know everybody, it was still a competition, but we got to know some cool people. It turned into a good experience," she said.
Kelly Jones said the show helped their relationship.
“I don’t regret doing it. She walked out of there a better dancer and I left a better mom," Jones said. “It really changed us and to see us on TV and me yelling at her, I stepped aside and said, ‘Yeah I can handle this better.'"
With the show behind them, Jordyn and her mother are exploring more possibilities. Jordyn recently filmed segments for an upcoming episode of Disney Channel's "Shake It Up." The show follows Cece Jones and Rocky Blue who are background dancers on a local program, "Shake It Up Chicago." Jordyn said it's one of her favorite shows. The episode is expected to air in February, Kelly Jones said.
"This was our dream," Kelly Jones said of the "Shake It Up" appearance. "Now, where do you go from here? ... You keep climbing this mountain."
Kelly and Jordyn Jones live in Los Angeles, while Kelly's husband, Tim, and their 10-year-old son, Skyler, live in Three Rivers. They all try to Skype as often as possible. Jones joked her husband calls and asks if they're coming home yet.
“It’s hard, but we’re all in it for the same reasons -- to support Jordyn,” said Jones, the former owner of Dance Steps Center & Apparel in Portage.
Quickly jumping to the top of their priority list is Jordyn's role with the pop group The 5 LP. Kelly Jones said the group signed with Tri Star Sports & Entertainment, of Nashville, Tenn., which represents Britney Spears, among other celebrities and athletes.
In addition to live performances, the group has performed for producers, writers and directors at industry showcases and Jones said she believed the potential for success is exciting. The YouTube video for the group's single, "Sugar and Spice," has more than 5.5 million views.
"Big things are getting ready to happen with them," said Jones, 44.
Jordyn said she hopes The 5 LP will launch a major tour soon.
"I just want to go farther," Jordyn said of The 5 LP.
