Most people don’t even think about using artificial lubricants on their bodies. It’s just something we do. Yet, we use lube on the most sensitive areas of our body. If anything, we should be extra careful about what products we’re using down there.
Where does jojoba oil fit in? The truth is, you can use jojoba oil as a natural lubricant. It is one of the most gentle substances you can use on your body.
Below, I cover the exact answer to whether you can use jojoba oil as lube and why as well as the drawbacks and also discuss some alternatives you can use as lube.
Jojoba oil comes from the jojoba plant, or Simmondsia chinensis. The plant grows in the Sonoran desert. This expands across parts of northern Mexico, Arizona, and California. It is also farmed in Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Paraguay South Africa, Egypt, Haiti, Israel, and Australia.
The plant has been around for centuries. After watching the animals consume it, humans began to take advantage of the plant as well. Native Americans have been using the oil for cooking and medicine for centuries.
Most often, we use jojoba oil for the skin and hair because of its healing properties. We know it helps promote healing in the skin. We use it to treat wounds, burns, scars, infections, and the signs of aging .
People use it for their hair for much the same reasons. Jojoba oil moisturizes the hair and protects it from outside pollutants. It can even relieve itching and infection caused by dandruff.
But, what if jojoba oil had a lesser-known use?
Using a jojoba oil lubricant is a good idea.
Think of a natural product. Do you picture a plant that comes from a harsh environment? Probably not. Yet, the jojoba plant grows in dry, arid deserts. It also produces one of the most valuable natural products.
Because jojoba oil is a waxy ester that mimics sebum, it is very safe to use for the body. This means you can use it as lubrication on the body.
Sebum already acts as a type of lubrication on the body. It is a natural oil that our body produces to bring nourishment and moisturization to our skin and hair.
Jojoba oil is close in composition to sebum. Because of this, the body doesn’t even recognize jojoba oil as a foreign substance. It believes that jojoba oil is sebum created by the body.
Most water-based lubes contain harmful chemicals. Besides that, there are other reasons why many oils make good lubes.
Oil-based lubes — or products that act like oil (i.e. jojoba “oil”) — last longer than water-based lubes. This is because they don’t evaporate.
They’re also a good option if you like to have sex in the shower or pool. Oils don’t mix with water, so they won’t wash away while you’re in the middle of an intimate moment.
Jojoba oil also makes a great lube because it won’t mess with your body’s pH. pH is very important for your body, especially in your most sensitive areas. An imbalance of pH is often what leads to problems like yeast infections.
Many people love to use jojoba oil for their skin and hair because it helps restore the body’s natural pH. This remains true when it’s used for lube.
We must be so careful about what we use as lubrication. Harmful products can throw off our sensitive systems. But, you won’t have that problem with jojoba oil.
Of course, there are a few bad things about using jojoba oil as a lube. One downside is that it can stain your sheets. To remedy this, place a towel over the bed to protect your sheets.
The most important drawback, though, is that you CANNOT use jojoba oil with condoms. Jojoba oil is very slippery which can cause the condom to slip. This has the potential to lead to infection.
More importantly, jojoba oil (and any oil) will damage latex. This is terrible if condoms are your main form of birth control or STI protection. Jojoba oil will wear down the condom. This leads to an increased potential for pregnancy or infection transmission.
You also shouldn’t use jojoba oil on any latex-based sex toys. As with condoms, jojoba oil will wear down your latex toy and ruin it.
Manufactured lubes aren’t usually a good choice for our bodies. We assume they’re safe, but they’re usually filled with harmful parabens and chemicals.
Jojoba oil is a safe and natural choice to use for lube. Still, if you’d prefer other options, here are other natural products that work as lube:
Here are some items that are generally thought to be safe:
Here are some items that you should NEVER use as lube:
So yes it is safe to use a jojoba lubricant. Our body naturally produces sebum which is like jojoba oil in composition. Our body recognizes jojoba oil as sebum. So, it acts as a natural protective barrier and moisturizer.
Of course, there are always exceptions, but jojoba is generally very safe. It is incredibly gentle so you can use it on your most sensitive skin. It is also very unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.
If you’re searching for a natural lubricant, you shouldn’t need to look any further than jojoba oil.

Absolutely one of the best lubricants for backdoor entry

Size: 3.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase

This lube by far is great for backdoor play. It last a considerable long time, and the jojoba oil really helps ease things in during foreplay. I’ve compared this lube to Uber Lube and both offer a great a silky feel, Pjur tends to last just a bit longer and is a few dollars cheaper. It’s also much easier to grab when in the midst of things. One downside (as with all silicone lubes) is the clean up. I hope you have white or black sheets because any other color will show any places you spilled lube or excessive run off.

I have been a long time customer of the Pjur Original Bodyglide so when I came across this Pjur Backdoor lube I had to try it especially since my wife and I have anal a good bit. Without needing to get into too much detail, Pjur Backdoor lube has worked like a charm. The numbing sensation is just perfect for my wife as it gets rid of that tad discomfort and allows me to keep going pretty much as hard as I want. For anal sex there are really no cons about this product, it does exactly what you need it to do: lubricate and desensitize. There are, however, a couple concerns I do want to share. Coming from using Pjur Original Bodyglide exclusively for years, Pjur Backdoor feels quite different so others in the same boat just be aware of that. The feel of the Pjur Backdoor lube is definitely thicker and in my opinion it takes a bit more work to rub it in, but you get used to it after a couple of trials. Finally, as everyone else pointed out, cleaning can be a bit of a pain especially if you've never used silicone based lubricants before. My wife has a really bad latex allergy which is why I made the swap to pjur long ago, so I still remember first time we used our first Pjur product it was a bit of an experience coming from water based lubes. Final thing, the numbing effect of the lube can be of a hindrance sometimes especially for us guys. Naturally I feel like I last quite a while so the fact that this also numbs me only makes it tougher to have an orgasm sometimes, so again just a word of caution! A must for any anal lover gay or straight!

Pjur Backdoor Glide offers exactly what it says. It does offer some slight relaxation...or numbness, but not so much that it inhibits all sensation. It relaxes...it doesn't numb. It's a little hard to describe exactly. Like all Pjur products it's very high quality, long lasting, and great for beginners. Ladies and gents. In my personal opinion, if you're exploring anal play for the first time, I highly suggest this lubricant. The added bonus of being a "relaxing lubricant" is a total plus, and could potentially ease the situation with your partner given the unfamiliar territory or the possible threat, or worry, that the experience might be too painful. Apply generously during foreplay(in, out, and around), wait a moment or two, and remember to breathe ;) Have fun! UDATE: I forgot to mention this in my original review, and it may be something which would bring it down a star...but I'm lazy so here are the words instead. The one thing that's really REALLY irritating when it comes to a quality product like Pjur lubricants are the containers. They still employ a twist off cap. Now I'm sure that the fine folks over at Pjur put a lot of though into the quality of their ass-lubes, but really they need to put just a little more effort in their packaging design. A twist off cap for a lubricant is possibly the dumbest packaging no-brainer I've ever seen. Whether for solo play or with the help of a partner; handling anything with lube on your hands is difficult enough. I'm sure that is why certain things like lube injectors exist for this reason...but seriously...some sort of click-top, or a pump would be a major win for this product.

I'd give this a thumbs up, butt really it was thumb in! Slicker than granny's gums!

I had never used a silicone lubricant until this one, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was okay. The feeling was different than using a water based lube, for sure. I did feel like I had to keep reapplying, however. But it was nice feeling if you used larger amounts of it. I was expecting a little bit of lube to go a long way, based off of other reviews I read, my personal experience did not reflect that, however. I purchased the100 ml bottle so I felt like I used quite a bit of the bottle to feel adequately lubed for comfortable sex. If you don't mind taking a couple of showers to fully feel like you've washed it off, then I'd recommend this product. If your like me and want to feel like you've completely washed it off in one shower, then you might consider sticking with water based lubes or using this less often. I'm giving it 4 stars because it definitely was not the worst lube I've tried. And for the price range, it definitely blows Astroglide and KY out of the water. Enjoy!

This is mine and my husband’s favorite lube. It lets him slide right in no matter how long it’s been since we last made love.

You need only a little of this, and it works beautifully. If you already love back door action, you'll love this product. And if you want to like back door action but have been unable to enjoy it previously, I highly recommend you give this product a try. I fall firmly into the former camp (love it!), and a bottle of this lube is always stocked in our bedroom. :) This is our 4th time ordering, so we obviously love it. But like any product, there are pros and cons. Cons: The bottle is small. It's fairly expensive (most high grade lubricants are not cheap, btw). The product contains jojoba oil which, like any oil, will leave stains on sheets and clothing (does wash out well). Pros: It works...really, really well. You need only a little so the bottle lasts a while. It lasts a long time once applied. It does not get sticky...at all. Your skin will feel nice and moisturized afterwards. :)

Nie wieder, bloß nicht kaufen

Size: 3.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase

NO MORE THAN A SIMPLE LUBRICANT!!!

Size: 3.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase

I purchased this item in order to finally have smooth anal intercourse with my former girlfriend. The main purpose of this lubricant is to relax the anal sphincter to have easy and smooth lovemaking. I tried with my partner several times and in different ways to have pleasant anal penetration but she didn’t notice the desired difference: in other words, she felt as if there wasn’t anything greasing her anal duct making her more comfortable about the ache. The only effective action of this Back Door Relaxing can be identified in lubricating the sphincter, so I do not recommend buying it if you're looking for a product allowing you to feel more comfortable.

Possibly too fit for purpose?

Size: 3.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase

After a quick test i can confirm that this is a very slippery lubricant that doesn't dry out or rub off easily. If I'm honest, it's so good at staying in place and slippery that i keep dropping my phone . If i was American then i would consider legal action, luckily, I am British and will simply be more careful in future

Not that good really!

Size: 3.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Verified Purchase

After reading a few reviews online for different back door lubes, this one seemed popular and a big hit in reviews. My wife and I have tried a handful of different brands over the years and this is the latest one we've settled on. Anyway, it's not that good at all. We both noticed how thick it is, its slippery but grippy at the same time. It seems to 'slow thing down' quite a lot if you know what I
