Unusual for a keyboardist, Jonny Slut became the face of the band and its most famous member, due largely to his striking image and fashion sense. While the band were together, they never released a full album, only singles and a mini album. However, in 1997 two full-length compilations were released featuring various Specimen songs.
Legendary founder and DJ of London's hugely influential queer electro clash club Nag Nag Nag and original goth, known for his 'death-hawk' hair Johnny Slut, chats to us ahead of his debut set. Jonny was an original member of 80's Batcave club resident band, Specimen, and has also worked with The KLF and Adamski.
909originals caught up with Mr Slut, to chat about the new compilation (which he curated), the rise and fall of the electroclash scene, and the hedonists' hotspot that was Nag Nag Nag.
