Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett says he was the victim of a catfish before he rose to fame - and was tricked into having 'Skype sex' with someone online
The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett has revealed he was the victim of a catfish years before he rose to fame on I'm A Celebrity in 2017.
The 36-year-old presenter could have seen his successful career in the industry plummet before it even started, as an explicit video of him was leaked online.
Joel shared the traumatic moment he went through in his 20s, which he jokingly described as "porno Gogglebox".
He explained to The Sun how it all started when he was contacted by an attractive woman online named "Staci Taylor".
At the time, Joel did not know the image of "Staci" was not the person he was actually chatting to.
The profile was used as a way to humiliate him, with the person behind the profile asking Joel if he wanted to have "Skype sex".
Speaking about what happened, he told the outlet: "I thought for a second, then immediately typed: 'Why not?!'
"She then replied: 'My microphone is broken so I won't be able to chat, we will just be able to see each other. That OK?'
"I said, 'Yes'. Possibly out of politeness, possibly out of the terrible randiness-to-reason ratio we all suffer from at times of heightened sexuality."
But the presenter said after they had done the deed, he never heard anything back from her, even though he had sent several messages to the account.
A few years went by, and as Joel started to gain popularity on the telly, an account named CelebrityBusted started following him.
He said he thought to himself: "Why would anyone have naked pictures of me?"
Joel added: "And then I thought, 'No, Staci, no!', and then, 'No, I'm so stupid' — and finally I realised it was obviously a fake person."
Joel said he tried to get the authorities involved and contacted the police and revealed they said they'd investigate.
Things eventually turned out well for the star, as in the end he managed to find the real person behind the account.
He had actually been speaking to Russian stylist Natalia Noi for a while.
Now, Joel is happily married to wife Hannah and will never have to worry about being cat fished again.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! runner-up Joel Dommett has said being tricked into making a sex tape was “a genuinely horrific thing for another human being to do”.
Footage of the comedian emerged shortly before he entered the Australian jungle for the ITV competition and Joel has said it was the result of “catfishing,” when somebody adopts a fake online persona.
In a lengthy Facebook post written from the perspective of his penis, he wrote: “I was quite happy being a completely unknown penis and this new found fame is frankly horrific for me and Joel, although we have both realised that it’s better to laugh about it than cry about it.”
He added: “That Skype sex session turned out to be entirely fake and has come back to bite Joel in the ass (Joel’s Ass is a good friend of mine and also features in the video).
“It’s a genuinely horrific thing for another human being to do, to take advantage of what is private of someone’s life and make it public for everyone to see.
“He obviously chose to go into I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here and people may argue that you are forfeiting a life of privacy with that choice, which he agrees with to a degree but there is a line.”
Joel said the “cruelly obtained video” is crossing the line.
The comedian, who was defeated by Scarlett Moffatt to win I’m A Celebrity, encouraged people who have experienced something similar to seek help from the Samaritans and wrote: “This is a new type of crime and it’s not just happening to people of below average levels of fame like Joel.”
While he was in the jungle Joel told his fellow contestants about his experience, saying: “Basically someone messaged me online and after a while she said did you want Skype sex, so I was like ‘yes’. I was so naive.”
He went on: “I messaged a few weeks later and she didn’t reply and then a few years later the video was released online, it was released about a week before I came in here.”
The 30-year-old said he was tricked into thinking he was interacting with a woman but later discovered that had not been the case.
He said: “I thought I was having Skype sex with someone but it was actually a video and it turned out it was someone watching me, watching porn, a porno Gogglebox.”

The comedian, 31, was taken in by a sexy woman named Staci Taylor in 2013 via webcam - but it was in fact a scammer using fake images and a pre-recorded video.

Joel explained in a new interview with The Sun that he was completely fooled when, fresh out of a two-year relationship and looking for love online, the attractive girl private messaged him.
Admitting he thought, 'Why not?', when she asked him if he wanted to engage in 'Skype sex' with her, Joel didn't hear back from Staci following their racy exchange.
It was only two years later Joel realised something was wrong when he was contacted by @celebbustedUK on Twitter, who threatened to release the footage.
'It was the worst thing that ever happened to me', Joel revealed, adding that he was left feeling 'so stupid'.

The star was stunned when he realised he was being blackmailed, and was at a loss when the police failed to help him.
He told the paper: 'I’d never have camera sex again. I genuinely thought that was a private moment between me and someone else.'
Joel made headlines last month after admitting he was filmed masturbating on webcam for a girl he met on Twitter - who turned out to be a fake account.

The comic believed the act was being watched by a girl he had met online - and was left horrified when the naked video emerged on the web.
Joel told The Mirror : 'It was a long time ago, someone messaged me on Twitter, they were very beautiful looking and we talked back and forth loads.
'I thought I was having Skype sex with somebody but it wasn't, it was just a video of somebody.'
He added that he was later followed by an account called Celebs Busted UK, who claimed: 'If we follow you we have naked pictures of you.'
He claims he went to the police who said they were powerless to do anything about it.
'So basically somebody was watching me,' Joel said. 'It's the most disgusting thing.'

Dommett is a comedian and actor who is best known for his role as DC Sweeney on E4's teen drama Skins, and his stint on the comedy show Impractical Jokers UK.
As well as regularly touring with his comedy routine, he has frequently appeared as a guest on the likes of Sweat The Small Stuff and Russell Howard's Good News. J
Joel has also made in-roads in Hollywood and landed a small part in The Edge of Love (2008).
