Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker was unveiled as the first ever woman to play Doctor Who when the series returns; and in a flashback to some of her other acting work, scenes have resurfaced from 2014's The Smoke, which feature the actress in a variety of compromising nude situations.
Jodie - now 35 - joins the likes of Matt Smith, David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston - all of whom have played the Time Lord, and all of whom have been known to get naked for their craft.
The Sky1 series - which aired three years ago, a year after Broadchurch first appeared on screens - saw Jodie take on the role of Trish Tooley in the raunchy drama.

Just what the Dr ordered! First ever female Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker is seen TOTALLY NAKED and having sex on the stairs in raunchy resurfaced scenes from 2014 drama The Smoke
The spicy scenes saw Jodie pressed up against a wall, locked in a passionate embrace with her on-screen lover Kev Allison [Jamie Bamber] before lying on a staircase and throwing back her head in ecstasy as he makes love to her.
Another scene featured Jodie going topless in a bedroom, seen getting changed in front of a man in a bed, without a bra in sight.
A third saw the actress posing for a life drawing completely nude, flashing her rear and her bare breasts as she climbed into position and lay down for the painting.
Jodie isn't alone in her naked on-screen endeavours. Christopher Eccleston - who played The Ninth Doctor - once featured in a very revealing scene in HBO's The Leftovers.

Naked ambition: Matt Smith [The 11th Doctor] de-robed for his last appearance in the role, in the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas special
The actor appeared in the spiritual series and showed his determination to repent by voluntarily locking himself in a pillory naked. The scene featured a closeup of his uncircumcised penis.

The actor, currently starring in Netflix's The Crown - for which he also stripped down to nothing - regenerated in the Christmas Day instalment as the new most recent Timelord Peter Capaldi.
David Tennant [The 10th Doctor] isn't a stranger to naked scenes either. In 2010, the actor was filming a passionate embrace with his co-star Suranne Jones for BBC's Single Father when he was asked to do a multitude of re-takes to ensure there was enough of his rear on display.
Just this year he appeared on stage in Don Juan in Soho, acting in nothing but an open dressing gown.

The Smoke followed London firefighting team White Watch, with the Jodie's character's on-screen boyfriend Kev returning to work after an injury in the worst fire of his career.
Jodie played the 'gutsy girlfriend' in the series which debuted on Sky1 on 20 February 2014 and was cancelled after one season.
She was born in Skelmanthorpe, West Yorkshire, trained at the Guidhall School of Music and Drama and made her professional debut in the play The Storm at the Shakespeare's Globe theatre 12 years ago.
The TV star is soon to become known for her family friendly role in the new Doctor Who series, but has previously embraced grittier roles, such as her portrayal as Beth Latimer in the ITV hit series Broadchurch - which came to a conclusion earlier this year.
Although the drama series lacked risqué moments such as these, the content was harrowing, with season one dealing with the murder of Jodie's on-screen teenage son Danny - a plot that involved adultery and shades of pedophilia.

In the third and final season of the show, Jodie's character Beth played a support worker, who acted as a pillar of support for the victim of rape, whose attack featured as the main focal point of the concluding run of episodes.
Following what was lauded as a satisfying finale to Broadchurch earlier in 2017, Jodie said of the revelation that she is 13th Time Lord [or Lady]: 'I'm beyond excited to begin this epic journey - with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It's more than an honour to play the Doctor.
'It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can't wait.'
Unfortunately, the decision to cast a female actress in the role, which has previously been played by men and is currently held by Peter Capaldi, has divided fans.
Grand reveal: Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker was confirmed as the new Doctor
While many people are praising the BBC and the show's writers for choosing a female actress, others are saying it's 'political correctness gone mad'.
Twitter user David Stephens said bitterly: 'Sorry this is so called equality, women's rights, political correctness gone mad-Dr Who was written/created as a man! End of.'
Clive Walton agreed, fuming about it on his Twitter page: 'No the character is a man not a woman! As usual the BBC have to muddy the waters through political correctness that's what they do!'
Responding to the BBC's announcement, a disgruntled Tony Moretta said on the social networking site: 'Well you're one viewer down already.'
In a testament to the acclaimed actress, ex-Doctor Peter Capaldi said: 'She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She's going to be a fantastic Doctor'

Another user, who tweets under the name of Sick of Tolerance, wrote: 'I trust her companion will be a disabled, transgender, asexual, Muslim Afro Caribbean gay all rolled into one to keep the PC BBC happy'
Many other fans of the show have expressed their delight over the decision to cast the actress.
Georgina Hewitson tweeted: 'I must say I'm pleased we might get a generation of little girls running around with sonic screwdrivers and lightsabers.'
New head writer and executive producer Chris Chibnall, who takes over from Steven Moffat on the next series, made the decision to cast the first ever woman in the iconic role.
He said: 'I always knew I wanted the Thirteenth Doctor to be a woman and we're thrilled to have secured our number one choice. Her audition for The Doctor simply blew us all away. Jodie is an in-demand, funny, inspiring, super-smart force of nature and will bring loads of wit, strength and warmth to the role. The Thirteenth Doctor is on her way.'
The teaser begins with a mysterious, cloaked figure making their way through a wood
The suspenseful clip initially gives no clues as to the identity of the new Doctor
The figure stops and holds out an empty hand only for the key to the Tardis to materialise out of thin air
The camera pans to reveal a woman is the mysterious wandered trudging through the wood
Capaldi announced plans to step down from the alien role in January, some fans and critics were calling for Mr Moffat to change the Doctor's gender.
Moffat, who also co-wrote the BAFTA award-winning Sherlock series with Mark Gatiss, had previously come under fire for choosing another man to play the role after Mr Capaldi was cast.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4 , he said: 'I didn’t not cast a woman... I cast a man. I didn’t [cast a woman] because I wanted to cast Matt Smith and I wanted to cast Peter Capaldi.
'I didn’t think it was a terrible idea [to cast a woman], I just thought, "I want to cast those people" – that was it.'
What we've all been waiting for: Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker removes her hood to reveal she is the first ever female Doctor Who
'Making history is what Doctor Who is all about', said Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content
Current Doctor, Mr Capaldi, praised the actress for her work.
He said : 'Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker's work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm.
Whittaker takes over from Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor.
'She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She's going to be a fantastic Doctor.'
Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content said: 'Making history is what Doctor Who is all about and Chris Chibnall's bold new take on the next Time Lord is exactly that.
'The nation is going to fall in love with Jodie Whittaker - and have lots of fun too!'
Piers Wenger, Controller BBC Drama added: 'Jodie is not just a talented actor but she has a bold and brilliant vision for her Doctor.
'She aced it in her audition both technically and with the powerful female life force she brings to the role.
'She is destined to be an utterly iconic Doctor.'
Matt Strevens, Executive Producer said: 'I'm so thrilled that Jodie Whittaker said yes to playing the Doctor.
'I've been a fan for years and always hoped to work with her. She is an actor of great emotional range and inhabits every role with complete passion and conviction.
'Just thinking about what she will bring to the Doctor makes me as excited as a kid at Christmas. It's going to be a lot of fun.'
