@lucky62 From dmesg I see that a piece of the firmware is missing: it is looking for the nvram file brcmfmac4330-sdio.rockchip,rk3318-box.txt The nvram for Ap6330 is already there, just with another name. You should be able to make it work with these commands: cd /lib/firmware/brcm sudo ln -s brcmfmac-ap6330-sdio.txt brcmfmac4330-sdio.rockchip,rk3318-box.txt It may still be necessary to do some adjustments in the dtbo, but I hope the wifi starts working after reboot
Yes the kernel is the very same for both. Okay, I checked again the device trees and found this: __overlay__ { status = "enabled"; }; I should have been very flipped yesterday, enabled is clearly not the right word Anyway I attach a couple of dtbo files, put them in /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay directory overwriting the existing ones, then reboot and let's see what happens... Note also that you should run again rk3318-config to complete the wifi and bluetooth configuration! rockchip-rk3318-box-wlan-ext.dtbo rockchip-rk3318-box-led-conf2.
@Hoangtnt Nguyen Hmm, the problem is that the wifi chip is not detected at all, in fact you can see that the mmc1 device is probed four times and then the kernel gives up. Are you sure you removed the wlan-esp8089 overlay from /boot/armbianEnv.txt? I need to check better the device tree because I may have missed something, I'll do that in a few hours!
From the photo you posted, it looks to me that the crystal is 26Mhz, so the option should be set to 1 Modprobe the module is useless if the module is already loaded during boot, you have to change the value in /etc/modprobe.d/esp8089.conf and then reboot. Also please provide the full dmesg log in a spoiler section, few lines don't help at all.
If you ran rk322x-config, it automatically added wlan-esp8089 overlay, but on your board the dtbo misconfigures the power on pin of the wifi chip. What you can do is remove wlan-esp8089 from overlays= line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and then reboot. It should work automatically, no need to manually load the driver.
@Hoangtnt Nguyen Mmmh, your issue seems to raise another problem... The fix we introduced for memory initialization seems to break your board. This Debian minimal image should work on your board: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ydu92YjIB_yFz9AYcDFaTmqqZ2yjQAZi/view?usp=sharing
I don't think that the eMMC is broken, I have a bad feeling that something is still wrong with memory initialization. Only the serial debug log can tell us what is really going on. As usual, original dtb, photos and serial log are useful.
Ah ok, now I understand that the four logs you posted before are all produced by the Multitool...! I never encountered any box with eMCP. Looking at the Multitool log, both eMMC and DRAM parts of eMCP are detected and everything is working as usual. It is possible that the problem involves u-boot somehow, so the serial log would be really useful to understand what is really going on. As long as you can flash the image using the regular instructions means that the kernel is able to use the eMCP the same way it does with eMMC with no differences, and the fact that LibreELEC works prove
Glad to hear that finally you got it!
Well, at least it boots, thanks for testing though! As usual, a dmesg log is appreciated so we could get some hints about instabilities. Any detail you may notice is also very helpful
I don't know of any Android ROM you are talking about, but surely you should understand why your log show 9 Apr. I suggest you to boot with the Multitool and do a internal flash erase, since you did experiments I don't know what's on your eMMC that takes control: instructions on first page are very clear on what to do. Also maybe your sdcard is faulty or it is in phantom read-only mode (ie: it allows writes but actually nothing is really written) This are the first lines of the dmesg log of the image I gave you: Your log is totally different, so you h
Hmmm, there very odd. I just tried the loader and it works fine on my board. Did you download it recently? There was a severe bug that prevented some boards to boot we fixed some weeks ago. Can you tell me what is in the eMMC now? Did you install Armbian on it? Do Multitool boots? The first error you report is not really an error: the device is already in maskrom mode, so it fails. Anyway you can do two things: since you have sdcard slot, you can burn the Multitool on an sdcard, put the Armbian image in images and then boot with the eMMC clk sho
@Hoangtnt Nguyen I don't know what is going on: I compiled the image yesterday but all the logs you posted shows "9 Apr", also there is evidence that the Trust Os is not OPTEE, as shipped with the image, but is the rockchip blob. You're not using the image as is, aren't you?
@Hoangtnt Nguyen multitool dmesg log looks quite ok, but as long as you say that you need maskrom mode to restore board functionality I guess the problem is related to memory initialization. We fixed the memory initialization some weeks ago, but the images on the official Armbian download page require a refresh. In the meantime you can try this image I just build: it is a Debian Buster minimal image with legacy 4.4 kernel. If you need something different just ask and I will happy to compile it for you.
Updated images! Armbian and Multitool images have been updated with various enhancements: Multitool compatibility has been increased Split single device tree in base and overlays: each board can activate different device tree overlays to fit the specific configuration (eMMC DDR/HS200, alternate SDIO bus for Wifi, etc...) Add rk3318-config script to easily configure options via menus; just run it as sudo rk3318-config Add full support for AP6334 (and various clones) Wifi and Bluetooth Add support for AP6330 Wifi and Bluetooth (yet untested) Issu
