On February 26, a major attack on self-defense units took place in the western part of Niger (Tillaberi region). 25 militia members became victims, three more were wounded.
The attack took place in several villages of the Anzuru commune, among them Duku Makani, Duku Jinde, Duku Sarau and Duku Koirategi. The attackers rode motorcycles.
The Islamic State-Wilayat Sahel (IG-C) group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The Tillaberi region is a center of instability in the "three borders zone" (Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali). IG-S are active here.
