I'm not a MC book fan and this one didn't help that but I enjoy real heros and streamy stories. Lots of drug use in this one and rough sex. But good steamy scenes too and excitement. Enjoy
I’m a fan of Susan’s books but this one just didn’t impress me like the others. The characters were good and the story was good also but I think I just didn’t like the subject matter of the motorcycle gangs. It’s definitely worth the read though!
Well how do ya like them apples? Daaaang... Talk about an eye opener. This book is different than the others of Susan's and I really, really liked that most about it. All of her books are great but this one has a hardcore vibe to it. And I think that vibe fits Cruz the best! Cruz Livingston, FBI, has gone undercover in one of the baddest biker clubs in San Antonio. The Red Brothers don't play. The traffic drugs, have more prostitutes than a dog has fleas and just as many bad attitudes. Cruz makes a plan to try and cozy up to the leaders woman and get info from her... but as usual plans change and he is redirected. When he first meats Michele Kaiser, Mickie, it's at a bad time for her. Her sister, the woman boning the clubs leader or President, has knocked her down, stomped on her hands and gut kicked her. Cruz is able however, to establish a little bit of a friendship with her and things take off from there. He really likes this beautiful, vibrant, vivacious woman... all he has to do now is keep her safe while trying to not blow his cover. That's easier said than done when Mickie keeps riding her sister butt about getting away from Ransom, the motorcycle clubs president. He's just using her and God bless her the gal is so clueless she wouldn't know a real do g if it jumped out and smacked her face. She's too colored by the drugs and the status she thinks she has. But now Mickie is on Ransom's radar... and that's bad, very, very bad. Mickie is stubborn. Good Lord. It's a Texas thing. (Winks) But she is also determined to help her sister and make sure she doesn't get herself into more trouble. Too bad that's not always the way things work out. It's sad but some people are just too stupid (or sick, addictions are a sickness) for their own good. And when it comes down to his life or Mickie's Cruz is there to put himself between her and danger. Literally blocking her from stray bullets and any other danger she may face. His past put him where he is. His determination to clean up the streets is what brought him here but now his determination is to keep Mickie safe and in his arms...
Justice for Mickie (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes, #2) by Susan Stoker (Goodreads Author) Wendy Hodges's review Sep 24, 2017 · edit it was amazing Cruz goes under cover in an MC gang who are dealing drugs, they are evil, bad and violent. They don't care about any women even their ol' ladies, abuse is the norm. While Cruz is deciding on the best way to get inside information he meets Mickie, instead of getting closer to her sister he decides to do what he can to keep Mickie as far away from the club as he can. Angel I felt was heartless, cruel and selfish out only for herself and no care at all about how worried her sister was. Mickie has pretty much sacrificed her own life to raise and love Angel as their parents couldn't be bothered, she is sweet kind and loving. Because under cover work means secrets this made Cruz feel bad that he couldn't be completely honest about what he did, he also couldn't do as much to protect Angel as he would have liked. I felt sorry for both of these characters, each was getting a bit of a raw deal with the situation they were in. Lots of suspense as well as some cruelty and abuse against women, there is drug taking and the sexual content is explicit. Some of this content is quite hard to read, the behaviour of Ransom and his men is hardcore and not pleasant in any way shape or form. I actually felt that this is probably the sort of life the more extreme MC gangs would live like in real life, though id feel sorry for anyone that got caught up accidentally. Raw, dark and edgy as well as violent story. At the same time you get pulled into it and find yourself with your fingers crossed that Cruz can keep Mickie safe and away from the compound and Ransom. A well written and enthralling story.
Susan Stoker – Justice Series Book 1 – JUSTICE FOR MICKIE I love Ms. Stocker’s books; probably the Seal stories the best so far. But, Justice Series is growing on me and is just as well written with well developed characters including the secondary characters. This is just one of the reasons I like Susan’s stories. The other is the love scenes are dynamite, and are articulated with such care and passion that you get caught up with each word, each page and then the conclusion that is memorable. The characters and the story line are so powerful that you think about the book for days. Due to the subject matter, a Motor Cycle Club (Gang), the book is raw, really raw. As I read the “terrible” things that the ‘gage’ did, especially to women, I wasn’t sure that I could continue. But, I am glad I did because we did get to the real issue that both characters have. I imagined that the entire MCC scenes at the club, the language the orgies were realistic. In fact, I felt that I was an invisible character and was outraged by this “gang” and would have loved to take them down myself. Both Cruz and Mickie had been married and hurt and damaged by the experiences. Neither was ever going to open their hearts again. Mickie’s husband was a lying SOB and she refused to allow anyone to ever lie to her again. Cruz was undercover when he met Mickie and he had to lie to her so he wouldn’t blow his cover. Such a quandary for both of them. Cruz was determined to protect Mickie from the MCC, and Mickie was determined to save her sister who was now seeing the President, Ramson, of the MCC, and a total psycho/sociopath! So, both worlds couldn’t exist together and exploded one night. I recommend this book, but beware that there is some pretty tough language and scenes.

Exciting read, dark undertones but redeemable characters
Cruz is one of the characters (along with Tex) most used as a crossover in the Operation Alpha world so I was really keen to read his story and understand his relationship with Mickie. In a lot of ways this book doesn’t disappoint, Cruz is everything you expect him to be and more, and despite the challenging storyline and horrible undertones that this brings with it, he stays redeemable throughout. I guess if anything I struggled with Mickie. I really felt for a lot of the book she needed to grow up and stop being such a walkover by her sister and ultimately whilst family ties are all good and well, but Angel well and truly made her bed. As proven by the lack of real remorse demonstrated for her ultimate fate. Despite this the storyline was exciting and pacy with strong wider character interaction SS does so well across her series. An unusual 4* from me for this author but still worth a read and Cruz will become more familiar if you read more OA series books so worth reading if just to understand his backstory

Gritty undercover story
This is the second book in the series all about law enforcement, featuring seriously good looking officers. I really enjoyed the first book but this one was too raw for me. The depictions of sexual violence were really hard to read. I appreciate it was integral to the plot but it was just unbearably graphic. I struggled to read it.

What a story!
This book is jam packed with action. Not one for the squeamish. It is like watching a documentary about drug peddlers picking up young innocent girls and getting them hooked, so they can be used to do as they've been ordered. Then there is the other side, the FBI Detective working under cover , and falling for the sister of one of the girls who is being groomed. It's so well written you can not put it down. It's also a reminder that bad things happen to to the vulnerable.

Wow! Brilliant story
A brilliant story. There are parts it that has so much sadness. The plot is realistic and thought provoking. Addiction to drugs causes so much pain for families and the people selling it cares for no one but themselves. It is a terrible problem. It is good when these things are highlighted is story like these because reading may cause someone to think about tricks that are to get innocent young ladies in situations like Mickie's sister.
In usual Ms Stoker style, great characters, great story, links to the wider group, thoroughly enjoyed it. Mickie is determined, strong, loyal and sexy in Cruz eyes, he's gorgeous, alpha, and protective sexy and protective but not able to reveal everything about his current assignment, their world's clash spectacularly can they make it..... gotta read it
