Who the fuck I am is an older vampire than you. Who I also am is the progeny of the King of Louisiana who happens to be out of town, which pretty much makes me the Queen.Jessica Hamby, to Steve Newlin
Jessica Hamby was a vampire on the HBO original series True Blood. Played by American starring actress Deborah Ann Woll, Jessica makes her debut on the episode "I Don't Wanna Know" in the series' first season. Born in 1991, and turned into a vampire in 2009, Jessica is the progeny of Bill Compton, the Vampire King of Louisiana. Turned as decreed by the vampire Magister, in reparation for Bill's murder of Longshadow, a fellow vampire, Jessica plays a recurring role through the series' first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh seasons. Formerly in a relationship with Bon Temps local Hoyt Fortenberry, the couple moved in together and lived happily until the end of 2009, when, no longer able to deny her vampire instincts and confine herself to a monogamous relationship, Jessica ended things with Hoyt and returned to her maker's home. She was last seen in the series' finale episode, "Thank You", in the series' seventh, and final, season.
Jessica was raised in a strict and devout Christian family in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jessica and her younger sister Eden were home schooled by their parents. They where not allowed to go out and only went to Bible study and clarinet lessons. Jessica's father would often beat Jessica with his belt to punish her for any faults in her chores or behavior. Jessica's mother was oblivious to this abuse, which Jessica attributed to her mother's "stupidness". Jessica resented the restrictions of her life dearly and secretly developed a rebellious attitude to her father's dominance.
When she became a vampire, she began to explore different feelings and became more open to the world around her. She proves to be deeply insightful at times while showing her naivety at others. Though she's a teenager physically, she is able to mature and grow. She has dealt with traumas like losing her first love (Hoyt) and her family, as well as the violence specific to her circumstances as a newly turned young vampire.
Jessica's religious upbringing still resonates within her. She does not live according to her human parent's standards but when Bill appeared to have become more powerful and shared his dystopian vision regarding many vampire's fate, Jessica among them, she began to pray. Jessica has openly admitted on many occasions that she likes feeding on humans and generally detests True Blood, but she is a supporter of the Mainstreaming cause. Her first uncontrolled attempt to feed on a human resulted in his death, but she takes greater care not to injure the humans she feeds on now. The only other times she has killed while feeding were either in combat (such as one of Russell Edgington's werewolves) or when she lost control around Andy Bellefleur's half-fae daughters due to the scent of their hybrid blood.
Jessica feels remorse for the death of Andy's halfling daughters she caused. Even though she is a young vampire prone to blood lust and drawn to fairy blood, she is not ruthless. Like her maker, she tries hard to hold on to her humanity.
She also recently demonstrated that she can glamour as many as two people simultaneously, something Eric (an Elder) did not or could not do when dealing with multiple Soldiers of the Sun. She overpowers her father, a man much larger than her, and eviscerates a werewolf.
Bill: "To your room, please. Tru Blood."
Jessica: "You are going to be so sorry when I get an eatin' disorder!"

Eric: "You want to stay with your maker, don't you?"
Jessica: "No, he's a dick! Dick, dick, dick!"
Jessica:: You're cute. Can I sit on your lap?
Eric: No.
Jessica:: (whining) Why? Nobody let's me have any fun. Fuckers!
Bill: Stop!
Jessica: Why?
Bill: Because we need to talk.
Jessica: Why?
Bill: Because there are things you must learn.
Jessica: Why?

Bill: Because you are no longer human.
Jessica: Why?
Bill: Because, as I've been trying to explain to you at length, you have been made vampire!
Jessica: (suddenly scared) Why?

But what else do we know about the young redhead who has heated up Bon Temps?
For one thing, she's not a real redhead.
Before life as a fiery vampire, Woll had minor roles on big television shows, and starred in a few films.
She's starred alongside A-list actors and Oscar winners including Bruce Willis and Robert Duvall.
If "True Blood" doesn't last much longer on HBO, Woll has a career in film ahead of herself.
The Irish and German actress doesn't come from a family of actors.
She wasn't interested in acting until high school.
According to askmen.com, Woll grew up dancing to swing and Latin music and playing the piano.
She later performed in school plays.
From there, Woll studied in a plethora of acting venues. She graduated from USC's School of Theatre with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting.
She also completed time in a Shakespeare program at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
Woll shared her favorite horror movies with H magazine in August 2009:
"… Growing up I always loved 'Alien,' 'The Exorcist,' and the original 'Haunting' with Julie Harris," said Woll. "'The Haunting' would keep me up at night."
Her trademark ruby red locks aren't her original hair color.
Woll is a natural blonde. She told Elle she began dying her hair in high school at age 14 to stand out.
"As a fair skinned blonde, I disappeared into the background," Woll told Elle. "I've always been a loner, so I suppose dyeing my hair red was a way to say, "I'm here, I exist, I'm a human being and you can't just push me aside."
2007: Woll made her way to television on an episode of NBC's short-lived "Life."
The actress starred in one episode alongside Damian Lewis, and Sarah Shahi in which she played a rape victim.
You can watch Woll's appearance in season 1, here.
2008: Before life as a vampire, Woll had minor roles on three big TV shows and appeared in a made-for-TV movie.
2008 was a big year for Woll onscreen.
First she had an appearance in western TV film, "Aces 'N' Eights," then she made back-to-back appearances on four hit shows: "ER," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "My Name Is Earl," and "The Mentalist."
2008: Joined the cast of "True Blood" as Jessica Hamby.
Woll was only supposed to be a minor character on "True Blood" for a few episodes.
Her character Jessica doesn't exist In the Charlaine Harris novel on which the show is based. Woll originally was intended to appear in a pair of episodes on HBO's hit vampire series, but was soon asked to return as a regular.
"[When] I came on, they said it would be, a two-episode arc. I was this punishment for Bill, so I had to be the frightened human child in the first episode, and then the annoying, bratty teen in the second episode. In that episode," said Woll. "They ended up asking me before the end of that first season if I would like to come back and be a regular the next season. I guess they saw some potential in the character."
To nail her vampire role in "True Blood," Woll watched a ton of wildlife footage.
"I watched a lot of animal videos and often attack footage," Woll told H magazine. "Stalking and attacking and killing are practices lost in most humans, so I needed to teach myself to do them."
2009: Though her role on "True Blood" took off, Woll didn't stop making cameos on other shows.
The actress popped up on an episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" as a missing girl who winds up in the hospital.
2010: Woll starred in the indie remake of '80s "Mother's Day."
Woll starred as the conflicted youngest daughter of the Koffin crew.
2011: With her "True Blood" role rising in popularity, Woll starred in four films.
"Catch .44" saw Woll as a lead in a drug film with Bruce Willis and Forest Whitaker.
The actress played the lead role in the adaptation of the novel "Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You" about a teenager learning to live in the real world with Lucy Liu, Peter Gallagher, and Aubrey Plaza.
Woll also starred with Josh Lucas and Terrence Howard in a post-Katrina film, "Little Murder."
She also starred alongside Oscar winners Melissa Leo and Robert Duvall in golf film, "Seven Days In Utopia" based on the 2009 book. The film received mostly poor reviews.
2011: "True Blood" wasn't the only piece where she starred alongside Anna Paquin.
Woll had a small role in short film "The Carrier" starring both Anna Paquin and Rita Hanks about a mother (Hanks) grieving her son's death.
2011: Woll showed off her inner geek.
Woll dresses up for Comic Con, going as Cousin It last August.
Woll met her boyfriend, comedian E.J. Scott on a dating site.
The longtime couple met on match.com.
Scott suffers from a hereditary eye disease called Choroideremia that will eventually leave him blind.
Knowing this, he is running 12 marathons in 12 states blindfolded to help raise money for a cure this year. He hopes to raise $12,000 per marathon for a grand total of $144,000.
So far, he has raced in 7 marathons and has raised $46,725.
Woll has suffered from Celiac disease since she was an infant.
Basically, this means Woll can't have any Gluten product–bread, pasta, wheat, etc.
I find I eat a lot of rice products as substitutes and of course meats and veggies," Woll told The Vault. "I do tend to keep rice cakes or corn chips with me just in case I get hungry and can’t find anything ... It really isn’t too bad. I’m still learning how to do it right so I don’t lose out on valuable nutrients."
One of her most embarrassing moments included accidentally spoiling an episode of "True Blood."
Woll told Rolling Stone she accidentally gave "away a shocking death. I got a call from HBO, and they were like, 'You blew it!'"
Before season five began, Woll told Interview magazine she gets "terrified" she'll accidentally give away show secrets.
Her "True Blood" character has a blog.
The site, babyvamp-jessica.com, is an extension of her (mis)adventures and lessons as a young vampire.
2012: Woll will star in upcoming film "Ruby Sparks."
Deborah Ann Woll's next movie will be about a writer who falls in love with the main character from the book he writes from the writers of "Little Miss Sunshine."
The film also stars Antonio Banderas and Annette Bening.
Woll has three more current leading roles in the works.
The "True Blood" star has two upcoming films, comedy "Meet Me in Montenegro" and "Highland Park" about high school budget cuts.
Woll also has another announced film, "Rosealine" in the works with young actress Lily Collins.
Deborah is this actress' real name ...
