Jessica Biel played the daughter of a minister on the almost sickeningly wholesome TV series 7th Heaven.
The long-running series followed the Camden family, with Protestant minister Reverand Eric Camden at the helm, and was praised as one of the most family-friendly shows on air.
So you can imagine a few feathers were ruffled when their teenage star posed topless on the front of a men’s magazine.
Back when she was 17, Jessica posed topless for Gear magazine, with the sexy photoshoot being released on her 18th birthday – and while she still played Mary Camden on 7th Heaven.
The actress – who is married to Justin Timberlake – has now admitted that she had to apologise to executive producer Aaron Spelling for the photoshoot, which she now regrets.
Speaking on E!’s Awards Chatter podcast, the 36-year-old said: ‘I certainly had to apologise to Aaron Spelling. I think my entire crew and cast were, needless to say, shocked.
‘The worst part was I had to go back to work. The thing comes out and literally I had to go back to work that next morning. Everybody was… they didn’t know if they should look me in the eye and I was just a mess.
‘I didn’t…you’re young. You don’t mean to hurt people. You don’t mean to do this.’
The Gear shoot became pretty infamous, but Jessica insists that the cover wasn’t a ‘calculated move’ to raise her profile.
The Sinner star said: ‘I think I was 17, I’m a woman now, I’m a grown up now. I’m sexy, ya know, this type of vibe and honestly, it just went a little awry.

Jessica, who has a three-year-old son Silas with Justin, starred on 7th Heaven from series one to six, from 1997 until 2002, as well as appearing as a recurring star in season seven and as a special guest in series eight and ten.
