Former ”Friends“ actress decides that only her beau should see her bare boobs
Tim Kenneally | February 17, 2012 @ 5:02 PM
Jennifer Aniston had her naked boobs pulled from her new movie “Wanderlust,” putting a last-minute kibosh on a frontal topless scene out of consideration for her boyfriend and “Wanderlust” co-star, Justin Theroux, an insider tells TheWrap.
The former “Friends” star demanded that the topless scene from the Judd Apatow-produced film, which hits theaters Feb. 24, be replaced with a tamer version, an individual with knowledge of the movie told TheWrap.
A spokeswoman for Universal, which is releasing the movie, said: “The scene was shot a bunch of different ways, and we have the best possible version.”
Aniston’s publicist, Stephen Huvane, denies that the scene was altered at the actress’ behest. “The scene is how it was always supposed to be,” Huvane told TheWrap.
The scene in question features Aniston going topless in front of TV news cameras. In the version that will be included in the film, Aniston will be seen topless from behind, with her bare breasts shown pixelated on TV screens, as they would appear on a TV news broadcast.
But the movie insider who spoke to TheWrap said that when the film was edited with the frontal nudity in it, Aniston pleaded for an alternate version due to her blossoming relationship with Theroux, whom she met on the set of the film. (The two are now cohabitating.)
The 43-year-old actress, it seems, decided it just wouldn’t be right to share her naked breasts with anyone except her new beau.
In the film, Aniston and Paul Rudd play a Manhattan couple who suddenly become unemployed and seek an alternative living situation, ultimately landing on a rural, free-love commune. Theroux, 40, plays commune inhabitant Seth.
Aniston performed a brief, semi-topless scene — though her breasts were concealed by an open lab coat — in her recent comedy “Horrible Bosses.”
The actress has also displayed a penchant for skin-happy photo-shoots on the pages of magazines such as “Rolling Stone” and “GQ.” (Her most recent appearance in the latter, for its March 2012 issue, features Aniston posing in little more than a black bra with her co-star Rudd.)
Perhaps those hoping for a glimpse of Aniston’s flesh would be better off heading to the newsstand instead of the movie theater.
From ”Friends“ popular Rachel Green to potential Oscar nominee, Aniston is one of Hollywood’s bona fide movie stars
A native Californian, Jennifer Joanna Aniston was born on February 11, 1969, in Sherman Oaks, California.
Ridley Scott’s ”House of Gucci“ hits theaters on Nov. 24
Alex Noble | July 29, 2021 @ 6:10 PM
Say “ciao” to your first official look at Lady Gaga and Adam Driver in “House of Gucci.”
Set to Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” the trailer, which debuted Thursday afternoon, provides a glimpse into the drama, costumes and accents we’ve all been eagerly anticipating since the glitzy project was announced.
The film, directed by Ridley Scott, follows the assassination of Maurizio Gucci (Driver) as well as the downfall of the Gucci fashion empire. Gaga plays socialite Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio’s ex-wife, who was tried and convicted of orchestrating his murder after he left her for a younger woman.
1970s glam aside, the trailer does hint at the darkness of the based-on-a-true-story flick.
“I don’t consider myself to be a particularly ethical person,” says Gaga as Patrizia.
The movie will be the multi-hyphenate superstar’s first major film performance since winning the Best Original Song Oscar and a Best Actress nomination for her performance in “A Star Is Born.”
“House of Gucci” stars some other people you may have heard of: Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino and Salma Hayek. It was written by Roberto Bentivegna and is based on Sara Gay Forden’s novel “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.”
According to CEO Marco Bizzarri, Gucci cooperated with the production and allowed them complete access to their archives for that too-die-for wardrobe.
That’s not to say all is well within the Gucci dynasty.
Patricia Gucci, Maurizio Gucci’s second cousin, told The Associated Press that the family were “truly disappointed” by the film.
“I speak on behalf of the family,’’ Gucci said to the outlet. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system….Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”
“House of Gucci” hits theaters on November 24.

Does Dwayne ”The Rock“ Johnson’s adventure into the Amazon have any surprises in store after the credits roll?
Andi Ortiz | July 29, 2021 @ 5:11 PM
“Jungle Cruise” has arrived in theaters and on Premier Access on Disney+, bringing fans to the Amazon with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. It took years to get here, but Disney has finally gotten another of its original rides onto the big screen. And it sure is a wild ride.
Like the ride it’s based on, the movie takes fans on a journey down the Amazon River. Frank (Dwayne Johnson) is a skipper just like the ones in the parks, meaning he tells lots of terrible jokes, and shows his passengers subpar sights — including the eighth wonder of the world, the Backside of Water.
Obviously, this isn’t enough to carry a film, so what follows is a true adventure story, where Frank gets roped into helping Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) and her brother McGregor to find “the tears of the moon.” This is, naturally, a magical plant that can cure all ailments, curses and diseases, according to legend.
We won’t spoil anything, but we will say “Jungle Cruise” certainly keeps the door open for any future adventures. So, is there a post-credits scene to officially set that future up?
When the credits roll, there is some beautiful artwork of the cast in character, but where you might expect a mid-credits stinger, there isn’t one. You also won’t find anything at the very end of the credits, as other Disney movies have been known to do.
Granted, “Jungle Cruise” is just one movie so far rather than a franchise, but fans will recall that “Pirates of the Caribbean,” Disney’s first forray into creating a film based on one of the park’s rides, had credits stinger, as did its four follow-ups. Only one of the “Pirates” post-credit scenes actually set up possible further story (“Dead Men Tell No Tales”), but each had a little nod to aspects of the story that had already occurred.
But, for whatever reason, “Jungle Cruise” doesn’t follow that recent tradition.
Feltheimer’s comp has gone up significantly during the Covid pandemic
Diane Haithman | July 29, 2021 @ 4:16 PM
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer will make $19.2 million in fiscal 2021, about triple what he made in 2019, according to an SEC filing on Thursday.
Feltheimer’s 2021 total compensation of $19,176,675 is a huge jump from his $6.6 million comp for fiscal 2019 and significantly more than his 2020 compensation of just over $11 million, according to the records.
Feltheimer’s total compensation for 2021 includes a base salary of $1.5 million, bonuses of $10 million, stock awards of $700,002 and option awards of more than $6.7 million.
According to the filing Lionsgate Vice Chair Michael Burns received $8.5 million in compensation for fiscal 2021 including a $1 million salary and $4 million in bonuses, up from $6.4 million in fiscal 2020 and $5.2 million total compensation in 2019.
In late May Lionsgate reported losses of $37.7 million in for the 2021 quarter that ended on March 31, 2021, with revenue coming in at $76.4 million. However, the company reported a net loss attributable to Lionsgate shareholders of $37.7 million.
Lionsgate stock increased by 146% during the fiscal year April 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021, the period covered by the proxy statement, making it one of the best-performing stocks in the media sector. The Starz platform grew to nearly 30 million global subscribers last year, and library revenues reached a record $780 million.
Director speaks out after this year’s “The Suicide Squad” revives criticism of earlier movie
Alex Noble | July 29, 2021 @ 3:39 PM
David Ayer has made no secret of his dislike for “Suicide Squad,” the 2016 film he directed that was released to lots of money but not-so-super reviews. But the upcoming release of James Gunn’s sequel/soft reboot, “The Suicide Squad,” has revived criticism of the original film — and, for some reason, him. And as a result, he’s made his longest public statement yet about it.
In short, he unambiguously disavowed “Suicide Squad” as “not my movie.”
On Wednesday night, film critic Tim Grierson randomly tweeted “Many times while watching the new movie, I thought, ‘Yeah, David Ayer should just abandon the idea of that director’s cut.'” Grierson was referring to Ayer’s public statements in 2020 asking Warner Bros. and then-parent company AT&T to release his original version of the film, which he called a “Soulful drama” that was “beaten into a ‘comedy.'”
Ayer responded to Grierson on Thursday with a lengthy statement, not only defending himself and bashing the movie, but also breaking down what he’d actually intended before, as he explains it, Warner Bros. essentially took the film away from him.
Ayers described his rough life prior to his breakout success writing “Training Day,” and the sacrifices he made to transition to a directing career before getting to the main point: “I put my life into ‘Suicide Squad,’” he wrote. “I made something amazing. My cut is intricate and emotional journey with some bad people who are shit on and discarded (a theme that resonates in my soul). The studio cut is not my movie. Read that again.”
“And my cut is not the 10 week director’s cut – it’s a fully mature edit by Lee Smith standing on the incredible work by John Gilroy. It’s all Steven Price’s brilliant score, with not a single radio song in the whole thing. It has traditional character arcs, amazing performances, a solid third-act resolution,” he continued. “A handful of people have seen it. If someone says they have seen it, they haven’t.”
Although Gilroy was ultimately credited on the theatrical version, Warner Bros’ unorthodox decision to commission multiple cuts of the film was widely publicized during post-production. In his note, Ayer detailed nights of coming home to his kids after the studio had taken over the edit “with my heart torn out.”
“I never told my side of the story and never will … I’m old school like that. So I kept my mouth shut and took the tsunami of sometimes shockingly personal criticism. Why? That’s what I’ve done my whole life,” Ayer recalled before adding, “Real talk I’d rather get shot at.”
Ayer concluded by saying he will no longer speak publicly on the matter. Whether this means he’ll continue to push for the release of his original cut remains to be seen.
In the meantime, Ayer doesn’t have any hard feelings about James Gunn or the much more enthusiastic response his take on the “Suicide Squad” franchise has received. “I’m so proud of James and excited for the success that’s coming,” he said. “I support WB and am thrilled the franchise is getting the legs it needs. I’m rooting for everyone, the cast, the crew. Every movie is a miracle. And James’s brilliant work will be the miracle of miracles.”
The feeling is mutual, by the way. “All my love and admiration, friend,” Gunn said in response to Ayer’s statement.
The release of Zack Snyder’s “Snyder Cut” of his equally-maligned “Batman V. Superman” in March renewed calls for Ayer’s version of “Suicide Squad.” However, when Variety asked Warner Media CEO Ann Sarnoff if the studio would ever unleash the “Ayer Cut,” she shot it down.
When the story was published, Ayer tweeted, “Why?”
“The Suicide Squad” hits theaters and HBO Max on August 6.
All my love and admiration, friend.
Johansson sued Disney for streaming release plan for Marvel film
Brian Welk | July 29, 2021 @ 2:13 PM
Disney is blasting Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit over the box office of “Black Widow,” saying that the lawsuit has “no merit whatsoever” and that she already received $20 million in compensation.
The actress is alleging breach of contract in the lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court and reviewed by TheWrap, in which she’s suing Disney over the company’s decision to release “Black Widow” on Disney+ at the same time as the film’s theatrical release.
“There is no merit whatsoever to this filing. The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of ‘Black Widow’ on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date,” a Walt Disney Company spokesperson said.
John Berlinski, Johansson’s attorney, said in a statement to TheWrap earlier Thursday: “It’s no secret that Disney is releasing films like ‘Black Widow’ directly onto Disney+ to increase subscribers and thereby boost the company’s stock price – and that it’s hiding behind COVID-19 as a pretext to do so. But ignoring the contracts of the artists responsible for the success of its films in furtherance of this short-sighted strategy violates their rights and we look forward to proving as much in court. This will surely not be the last case where Hollywood talent stands up to Disney and makes it clear that, whatever the company may pretend, it has a legal obligation to honor its contracts.”
“Black Widow” has grossed $157 million to date at the box office. Disney also reported a global total of $60 million in paid streaming sales on its opening weekend.
Coming up on Disney’s slate is “Jungle Cruise” opening Friday, which is also being released in theaters and through Disney+ as a Premier Access title. Other films that have followed this model included “Mulan,” “Raya and the Last Dragon” and “Cruella.”
Johansson is seeking both punitive and monetary damages, as well as a trial by jury.
Chris Pratt action film was seen for 1.2 billion viewing minutes, while Pixar film in its second week was watched for 1.1 billion
Brian Welk | July 29, 2021 @ 1:30 PM
Chris Pratt’s action film “The Tomorrow War” was the most-watched movie in its streaming debut last month, beating out Disney-Pixar’s “Luca” as it continues a strong streaming run, according to Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings.
“The Tomorrow War” opened over the July 4 holiday, and during the week of June 28, Nielsen estimated the movie was streamed for 1.229 billion viewing minutes. It was the No. 2 most-watched title for the week (behind only the Netflix series “Manifest”) and was the top original movie for the week, beating out “Luca” in its second week on Nielsen’s ratings.
“Luca” during the week of June 28 had another stellar run, notching 1.156 viewing minutes. It fell only slightly from its debut during the week of June 14, when it was watched for 1.5 billion viewing minutes. It landed at No. 3 on the overall streaming rankings and was No. 2 for movies. Nielsen said “Luca” continues to perform well with the 2-11 audience and also skewed female.
The next highest film on the rankings was the Liam Neeson action movie “The Ice Road” for Netflix, which dropped on June 25 and was seen for a solid 553 million viewing minutes, landing at No. 8 overall, ahead of other streaming titles like “Downton Abbey” and Amazon’s “Bosch.” In any other week, that might’ve been good enough to be the No. 1 movie.
“The Tomorrow War” stars Chris Pratt and is directed by Chris McKay. The film was originally meant to be a theatrical release but was moved to Amazon during the pandemic. Pratt stars as a family man who is drafted to fight in a future war after people from the future come back in time and inform them that aliens have been attacking the planet and threaten to make humanity extinct. Humanity’s only hope is for people from the present to go into the future and fight. The film also stars Yvonne Strahovski, J.K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin and Sam Richardson.
Nielsen’s streaming rankings look at Netflix, Disney+, Amazon and Hulu. You can view the full lists for the week here.
Weinstein last week pleaded not guilty to 11 counts
Brian Welk | July 29, 2021 @ 11:42 AM
Harvey Weinstein’s bid to dismiss two counts of sexual assault against the former movie producer in his Los Angeles trial have been rejected by a judge after Weinstein’s attorneys claimed they were precluded by the statute of limitations.
Judge Sergio Tapia II told prosecutors that a third count of sexual battery by restraint, or Count 5, would need to be amended, which the defense also challenged over statute of limitations.
Weinstein last week pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of rape and sexual assault after being extradited to Los Angeles. The charges are connected to rape and assault allegations from five women, with the reported incidents taking place between 2004 and 2013.
Weinstein is being held without bail in the Twin Towers jail in downtown Los Angeles, and he was present at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center for a hearing on Thursday.
He was previously convicted of rape and sexual assault of two women in New York and sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Weinstein was first charged by previous L.A. District Attorney Jackie Lacey in January 2020 during the early stages of Weinstein’s New York trial. The Los Angeles trial was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has created a backlog of cases for the courts. Weinstein’s attorneys also sought to delay the trial by arguing that the producer could not be extradited to Los Angeles due to his failing eyesight and other health concerns.
If convicted, he could face a maximum of 140 years in prison, though he will be sent back to New York to serve the remainder of his sentence there following the Los Angeles trial. Defense attorneys have appealed the New York ruling, arguing that Weinstein was denied the right to a fair trial due to faulty rulings from the judge.

Ashley Turner | July 29, 2021 @ 11:22 AM
New posters for the upcoming film “House of Gucci” were released Thursday and showed off its all-star cast, including Jared Leto, whose transformation into fashion scion Paolo Gucci had Twitter abuzz.
The actor/rock star, known for his chiseled features and long, flowing hair, was nearly unrecognizable as the puffy and balding Gucci.
Some Twitter users likened Leto’s transformation to actor Jeffrey Tambor or TV personality Dr. Phil.
