Jenna Fischer Dishes On One Of The Office's Biggest Stunts

From awkward social interactions to having too much to drink, work Christmas parties can often be disastrous. Chaos is typically an integral part of the job description for "The Office" characters working at Dunder Mifflin , but their Season 5 Christmas party raised the bar.
In "Moroccan Christmas," the coworkers gather to celebrate the holidays . However, with Michael Scott (Steve Carell) behind the bar, things spiral out of control. The episode features the show's usual staples: Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) flirting, a mean-spirited scheme by Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), and the other characters being quirky on their own.
Downing drinks made with "equal parts scotch, absinthe, rum, gin, vermouth, triple sec, and two packs of Splenda," Meredith Palmer (Kate Flannery) quickly becomes intoxicated. She winds up swinging her hair through a lit candle while she's dancing around a conference room and is sprayed with a fire extinguisher.
The episode received mixed reviews for its portrayal of alcoholism, but the burning hair sequence is one of the more intense stunts "The Office" pulled off (via New York Magazine ). So, how did they do it?
On the "Office Ladies" podcast, Fischer and co-host Angela Kinsey dished about how they safely set one of Flannery's signature red wigs on fire. Kinsey, who portrayed Angela Martin, called it "one of the biggest stunts" the show had ever done.
Flannery often did her own stunts on the show, but a stunt double was brought in for the fire scene (via Mashable ). Marie Fink, her stunt double, worked with stunt coordinator Scott Leva, who had to submit the plan to the NBC Universal Safety Department for approval. According to Fischer, safety officers, a special effects crew, and the Los Angeles Fire Department were present.
To pull off the scorching stunt, Fink was alone in a conference room to make it safer for everyone. She wore a "full fireproof bodysuit ... called like a Nomex," said Fischer. "And she wore like a head stocking that was flameproof and then she put on Kate's wardrobe."
"I guess these Nomex suits are what race car drivers wear when they're racing, you know, in case their car burst into flames," she added.
While the stunt was a success, Flannery told Kinsey, "I had to wear the stinkiest wig the whole rest of the week because, you know, when you burn hair, you know the smell."
Hairstylist Kim Ferry shared a smiling behind-the-scenes shot of Flannery from Season 5 posing with her burnt wigs and gushed about their "adventures in burnt hair fun!" and said, "3 cheers for Kate Flannery!!!"

When Jenna was cast in The Office, it didn't take long for fans to connect with her character, and to become invested in her and Jim's story.
Jenna Fischer portrayed the role of Pam Beesly for nine seasons on The Office. Fans might know her as Pam, Jim Halpert's wife on the show, but there's a reason they loved this TV couple so much. For one, her receptionist role made her so relatable, and the connection she had with her co-worker, Jim (played by John Krasinski) seemed so real and attainable.
Jenna Fischer may have landed a role that made her famous, but it did not happen over night. In fact, she had a slew of low-paying jobs before she landed the role of Pam. Nevertheless, when she was cast in The Office , it did not take long for fans to connect with her character, and to become one hundred percent invested in her and Jim's love story. Although the role in question is the one that made her famous, it's certainly not the only thing she should be recognized for, and even her TV husband Jim, would agree.
The two had an amazing relationship on the show, but we have to wonder if there was ever a chance that it could have become more in real life. If these two would have gotten together in real life though, these photos are not ones Jim would want us ogling.
Jenna Fischer made her way to the stage when she was invited to Jimmy Kimmel’s Late Night Show wearing a bathrobe, and she stunned the audience (and we’d guess that if Jim was in attendance, she would have stunned him, too). She did have a reasonable explanation for the towel though , saying: “So this was my outfit for tonight, and I waited a little too long to get dressed, and then my zipper broke. . . and I panicked.”
Look away, Jim! This was certainly one of Jenna Fischer’s more risqué roles, but we did not mind it. Fischer starred in the 2007 Will Ferrell film, Blades of Glory . The film was said to have received some fairly positive feedback, and we can’t help but wonder if some of that had to do with certain scenes featuring Jenna Fischer in the outfit shown in the photo above.
Jenna took a vacation earlier this year in January, and posted some photos for her fans. In one of her IG posts, she stated she was staying at The Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara, and although we can tell that the location is incredible, when looking at this photo of Pam, the background seems irrelevant.
Jenna Fischer attended the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017 and she looked absolutely gorgeous. We never really got to see Pam change her hairstyle much throughout her run on The Office , so seeing her with a sleek, sophisticated bun is definitely refreshing. We just wish Jim got to see more of it while starring alongside her on The Office .
This is a rare sight, but one we don’t object. Jim Halpert, on the other hand, might. The Office star graced the cover of Shape magazine and talked about maintaining a slim and healthy figure, along with also maintaining a sense of humor. She also talked about how she had to take on a variety of lower paying jobs before she got her big break. This just makes us love her more.
We assume Jim would have loved to see his former TV wife looking so fresh-faced while reading a newspaper in bed, and having her breakfast, too. We know that the two were only married in a fictional world, but their chemistry was undeniable. This is the reason fans still ship Jim and Pam to this day.
We’ve seen Pam pregnant and sitting behind a desk, but to see her looking so comfortable and confident in a bathing suit top while pregnant is totally new to Office fans. As if this photo wasn’t already impressive enough, Fischer was also celebrating her 40th birthday at the time. She definitely had a lot to celebrate.
We’re so used to seeing Pam Beasley sitting behind a desk, but her legs are always hidden. Fortunately for fans (but unfortunately for Jim), the audience finally got to see Jenna Fischer as a guest on The Tonight Show, and the main focus was certainly on her toned legs.
We’re assuming this is a Halloween costume, and even though it’s not one of those costumes that is meant to cover as little as possible, somehow we think this look is hotter. She is wearing a vintage dress and is playing the role of the stay-at-home-mom and “typical” housewife. We don’t know what Jim would think of her in this role, but we sure think she looks great!
This one might make Jim Halpert a little sad… We know that on The Office , Jim and Pam were total couple goals, but it would appear as though in real life, Pam and her real life husband Lee Kirk, are true couple goals. The two have been married for nearly 10 years, and they look as happy as can be, even to this day.
Okay, okay, we know that the real Jim Halpert, John Krasinski, is happily married to wife Emily Blunt, and the two have been this way ever since they tied the knot in 2010, but when looking at stunning photos of Pam, like the one above, we have to wonder if he ever thinks about how life could have looked like if he married his TV wife.
Dayummm. Who knew Pam Beesly had such a perfectly curvy body? This photo might be pretty shocking for lots of Office fans to see, after all, we are so used to seeing Pam wearing clothes that do not really accentuate her curves. Well, we can’t say the same about this dress, because it is doing the complete opposite. Sorry, Jim.
The Office fans will surely adore this photo. We know that the cast of The Office became pretty close behind the scenes, and although there was a clear rivalry between Pam’s fictional husband Jim, and Dwight on the show, we know that the actors were very close. Jenna posted this photo on Twitter and wrote: I love @rainnwilson's book so much I hired @narcissusholmes to photograph me reading it. #thisishowiread #ilooksmart.
Anyone who has watched The Office knows that Pam did not have the best relationship with her co-worker from accounting, Angela. In fact, Angela's particular (and pretty stuck-up) character made it hard for anyone to become friends with her (with the exception of Dwight, of course). Regardless of the way Angela's character was on the show though, it is not an accurate representation of the way she is in real life. Case in point: Pam and Angela are actually best friends in real life.
Jenna starred as Maggie in the 2011 movie Hall Pass , alongside Owen Wilson, Christina Applegate and Jason Sudeikis, and even though the character she plays decides to give her husband a “hall pass” for one week, we have a hard time believing that she would do that in real life (or would have done that to Jim, on The Office ).
Earlier in this list, we featured a photo of Jenna reading co-star Rainn Wilson’s book, but it looks like Dwight isn’t the only one who wrote a book; Pam wrote one, too! She actually presented the publication in 2018 at Left Bank Books. Jenna could add author to her resume, after the release of her book: The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide .
There doesn’t seem to be a George Foreman Grill is sight, but we know what Jenna is referring to with her shirt. We know Michael Scott would appreciate the pun. We never really saw Pam wearing anything other than her usual business attire (a blouse and a skirt), so getting to see a photo of her in a casual t-shirt makes us happy.
Does Pam Beesly need makeup? We would have to say no, although seeing this photo of her looking totally made up just adds a little something. She posted the photo to her IG account and captioned it: “This is a photo of me reading a book. That’s the only reason I’m posting it. Really. Has nothing to do with the tan makeup on my legs. Making them look outstanding. This is totally just me, promoting reading. I love reading.”
Jenna Fischer attended the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2009, wearing this rather low-cut grey dress. We don’t know if Jim was invited to the event, but even if he didn’t see her there, we are sure he got to see some photos later on, and was as mesmerized by his TV wife as we all were.
The Office star posted this photo to her IG account in October 2018, and we are loving her sophisticated look. She captioned the photo: “Heading out to watch the premiere of my show!! Got ambushed by the #paparazzi (I mean, me handing my phone to my husband). Starts in 20 mins east coast! #splittinguptogether #abc.”
