Jeju Dream Tower Casino Sales Increase 38%



Lotte Tourism Development Co., a promoter of Lotte Tourism Development Co., said in a filing Wednesday with the Korea Exchange that casino sales rose 38.3 percent on-month to 19.81 billion won in October.


Casino sales in Jeju, a semi-autonomous island where many foreigner-only casinos are located, fell sequentially in September and August.


Lotte Tour pointed out that casino sales are somewhat different from industry sales data compiled by the Korea Casino Association because they are calculated as net fees paid to dealerships.


Other data released by Lotte Tour showed that Jeju Dream Tower's sequential increase in casino sales in October coincided with an 8.6 percent month-on-month increase of 30,582 visitors to casinos, with the table game retention rate cited as additional data coming from 12.7 percent in September to 12.9 percent in October.


Casino sales in October were mostly table game sales, up 41.0% from September to KRW 18.53 billion.


Machine game sales rose 8.2% month-on-month to 1.28 billion won in October, while machine game holdings rose 3.2 percentage points to 9.8%.


Casino sales in October last year were only KRW 3.27 billion, so performance in October this year increased by 505.9% compared to the same period last year.


Hotel sales in October recorded 17.1% sequentially, slightly below KRW 9.27 billion. It is estimated to have decreased 13.6% year-on-year.


October data showed casino sales reached 12.17 billion won in the first 10 months of this year, up 213.8% from the same period in 2022.


Recent figures show that customer purchases of casino table drops, or chips for table games, were just under 143.45 billion won for the month of October, and increased 38.3% sequentially. 슬롯머신


In the first 10 months of 2023, this table decline was just over KRW 1.3 trillion, an increase of 177.9% year-on-year.
