Yes, Jed the Fish wasn’t your ordinary DJ. He was a talking fish, suspended in a glowing aquarium right in the middle of the studio. No one knew how he got there—some said he was a failed science experiment, others claimed he was a reincarnated rock star. But one thing was certain: Jed had the best taste in music on the planet.

The Rise of Jed

Jed’s journey began one stormy night when a young intern at KROQ accidentally spilled an energy drink into the station’s prize goldfish tank. The next morning, the fish—now named Jed—spoke in a smooth, gravelly voice and demanded to play The Clash. The stunned staff handed him a mic, and from that day on, Jed the Fish became the voice of a generation.

Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, Jed ruled the airwaves. He introduced bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, and Weezer before they were huge. His catchphrase—'Keep on swimming through the music!'—became iconic. Fans would call in just to ask him fish-related questions:

'Jed, if you could be any fish in the sea, which would you be?'
