Weeks into the season, Jeannie was forced to withdraw from the dancing competition due to a 'near life-threatening' parapharyngeal abscess which required immediate attention.
Mai recently explained to People that she was ready to do anything to stay on the show, but doctor's insisted she had a serious condition and needed surgery.
'My sore throat turned out to be strep throat that quickly turned into a parapharyngeal abscess,' she said. 'I was breathing like Darth Vader. It was a traumatic experience.

'The past few weeks felt loonng and heavy as I couldn't speak or leave bed. But the calls, text messages, funny videos, matzo ball soupssss, bone broths & encouraging words from all my friends in work and LIFE brought me back‼,' she wrote.

The 51-year-old Hustlers actress was seen in a black bra top with leggings that had holes in them and black heels.
In the caption the mother of two said she was on ‘cloud nine.’ She then tagged DSW who she has made shoes for.
Earlier this week Jennifer was seen kissing estranged fiance Alex Rodriguez in the Dominican Republic where she is now filming the movie Shotfun Wedding with Josh Duhamel.
People magazine has said the two are ‘working through’ things.
The couple reportedly ended their two year engagement recently but they have hit back at split claims, insisting they are working through any differences they might have.
In a joint statement, they told People magazine: ‘We are working through some things.’
And a source has claimed they just ‘hit a rough patch’ but were never fully broken up.
The insider added of the couple’s relationship: ‘They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But they were not broken up … She’s working in the Dominican Republic and he’s in Miami so it’s tough seeing each other especially with quarantining and COVID but they want to try to stay together.’
Their comments come after a source claimed Jennifer and Alex split after four years together.
A source told the New York Post’s Page Six column on Friday: ‘He’s now in Miami getting ready for baseball season. She’s filming her movie in the Dominican Republic.’
The news came as a huge shock to fans as the couple were last seen together in the Dominican Republic, where Jennifer is busy filming her movie, ‘Shotgun Wedding’.
Jennifer and Alex have had to postpone their wedding twice due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and even as late as January this year, Alex admitted he can’t wait to marry Jennifer as he quipped ‘third time’s the charm’ as they prepared for the big day.
He said: ‘We tried twice in 2020. We got bit twice by COVID-19.
‘You know, they say in baseball, ‘Third time’s the charm,’ so let’s hope. It’s been such a crazy year for her. So amazing. So many blessings. In the span of 12 months, she’s done the Super Bowl, New Year’s, the inaugural.’
Kate Lawler has admitted she feels guilty about wanting to stop breastfeeding her five-week-old daughter Noa.
The former Big Brother star, 40, took to Instagram on Sunday and told her followers she finds breastfeeding ‘so demanding’ and is often exhausted after.
The radio presenter, who shares Noa with fiancé Martin, said she is considering switching to formula soon, likening breastfeeding to ‘a workout’.
She wrote: ‘Hello. Hope you’re having a nice weekend? Today I’ve showered, brushed my teeth and put a bit of makeup on. Still haven’t got dressed or left the house for a walk but three out of five isn’t bad!
‘(Since starting this post I’ve actually got dressed and finally left the house for a dog walk. Hoorah! I’m sat in the back of the car with Baxter and Noa while Shirley rides up front with Dad.
‘We’re heading back to the park we used to live next door to then walking to our favourite bakery for egg rolls. I will be getting cake too because breastfeeding diet.
‘Talking of which, those who breastfed, how long did you do it for? I’ve done just over five weeks but considering switching to formula as it’s so demanding and my let-down is so fast I’m basically water boarding Noa every time she latches the poor little potato.’
Kate explained it was the ‘pressure from healthcare professionals and others’ that was making her feel guilty.
She said: ‘Expressing for a few minutes beforehand has helped though. I know a happy baby is a fed baby but the pressure from healthcare professionals and others, along with my stubbornness makes me feel guilty about stopping.
‘It’s just so time consuming and does anyone else feel exhausted after feeding? It’s like a bloody workout. No wonder you burn up to 500 calories per feed! Hats off to anyone who does this for longer. Also so many of you have said ‘get Boj (Martin’s nickname) to help’.
‘Since day one he’s fed Noa a bottle of expressed milk each day and is currently staying up with her until 3am so I can sleep and then take over. I don’t know what I’d do without him.’
Kate recently shared adorable pictures of Noa after admitting she was in ‘the darkest place ever’ weeks after giving birth.
The TV star, who welcomed her baby girl into the world on February 12, posted the cute snapshot of the newborn on her Instagram page on Friday.
In the series of snaps, Noa was seen lying on a black-and-white cow print blanket and wearing a cream baby-grow with bunnies on it.
The five-week-old looked content as she lay on her back and kicked her legs out, while looking at a black-and-white ‘sensory’ baby book.
The Virgin Radio host also shared a short clip of Noa’s bath time, complete with soothing music, candles and a turtle bath toy.
Kate captioned the images: ‘Two of Noa’s favourite things. Black and white sensory toys and bath time #5weeksold.’
This comes after the first-time mum thanked her fans earlier this week for their ‘love and support’ after she shared an emotional post where she admitted she was at ‘breaking point’.
Her tiny baby was taken into hospital three times in three weeks since she was welcomed into the world, and Kate has documented their journey.
She said she’d been ‘blown away’ by the response to her candid post after she confessed she feels like she’s ‘failing’ while hitting back at trolls who questioned why she’d shared a picture of her two dogs on Mother’s Day.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Kate revealed other parents had messaged her saying they also felt they ‘couldn’t admit’ how they were feeling.
Writing a lengthy caption, Kate penned: ‘I’m absolutely blown away by the response from my last post over the past 24 hours.
‘Initially I felt scared about posting it because of a fear I’d be labelled insensitive or ungrateful but THANK YOU, it was the right thing to do.
Kate’s post came a day after she admitted that she’s in ‘the darkest place’ and confessed that she feels like she’s ‘failing’.
While hitting back at ‘dog mum’ trolls, who came for Kate after she shared a Mother’s Day post dedicated to her pet pooches, the reality star urged people to ‘be kind’ and thanked her fiancé Martin for being her ‘rock.’
On Mother’s Day, Kate had posted a snap of her two beloved dogs, Baxter and Shirley, and wrote: ‘It’s not my first Mother’s Day. It’s my 11th. Being a dog Mum is the best thing in the world.’
And on Tuesday, the Virgin Radio host revealed that she’d been subjected to trolling over her love for her pets, with some cruel trolls claiming she ‘shares praise and love for her dogs over her actual child’.
Kate shared a thread of screenshots, which detailed her experience over the past month, which went into detail about what she’s been through with daughter Noa over the past month.
Alongside the new images which explain how she’s struggling to cope, Kate wrote: ‘Swipe left. It’s long but it needs to be said.
‘Thank you to everyone who has reached out and supported me recently, especially my family, friends and fiancé who has been my rock now more than ever.’
The reality star welcomed her first child with her fiancé and partner of seven years, Martin in February.
Kate began by stating that she wanted to address ‘some extremely hurtful and abusive comments’ and reiterated that she has always cherished her two dogs.
The broadcaster then explained how she’s shares the ‘highs and lows’ of her journey as a new mum ‘because that’s the truth’.
Kate also pointed out how Instagram is simply a snapshot into people’s lives and is often not a truthful reflection of what is going on behind closed doors.
Likening her Instagram followers to a ‘friendship group,’ the TV star reasserted that being a dog mum is ‘the best thing ever’ and confirmed that she stands by her words.
Moving onto discussing her life as mum to a newborn baby, Kate admitted: ‘If you must know, being a mum to a newborn is not the best thing ever right now. It’s broken me.
‘I feel like I’ve been treading water since February 11th and the last two days I’ve felt like I’m at breaking point. I’m not coping well mentally and I wish I could be stronger for my daughter.
‘I’m not enjoying what I’m going through, yes I’m struggling and you’re right, I am sad behind the eyes because I’ve always taken on new challenges like a duck to water but his one in testing me and I feel like I’m failing.’
Kate admitted that she’s not scared to be honest about her mental health battle and explained that she’s had to cope with 14 of Noa’s first 33 days in the world being spent in hospital, and stated that her little girl is still barely sleeping.
Lashing out at trolls, the reality star fumed: ‘How dare you say I put my dogs before my child’ before detailing her feelings of guilt over being unable to walk them as much now that Noa is her priority.
Kate continued: ‘But I love my child and for nearly five weeks, I’ve devoted myself to keeping her alive. I breastfeed day and night, I comfort, hold, kiss and cuddle her, bath and dress her, I sing and play to her.’
Explaining that she hasn’t shared much of this side of her journey on Instagram because she’s been focusing on her daughter and making sure her needs of met.
Kate insisted: ‘There HAVE been moments of joy, but hand on heart, I’m just exhausted, frustrated and the newborn days are not what I thought they’d be.
‘If that upsets or angers you then it’s your problem. I’m in the darkest place I’ve ever been in, trying to stay positive but I’m not the earth mother you want me to be, so accept it and stop with the hurtful comments.’
Concluding her lengthy post, the new mum also revealed that she ‘held back’ from posting photos of herself and Noa on Mother’s, Day because she was being mindful of women who’ve lost children and/or who have fertility struggles.
She regularly flaunts her sensational physique on social media.
And India Reynolds looked phenomenal as she showed off her assets in an all-pink ensemble on Sunday.
The Love Island star, 30, took to Instagram to share the snap as she fixed the camera with a flirty smile.
She flashed a glimpse of her toned tummy and put on an eye-popping display in a low-cut pink Pour Moi bralet.
India worked her angles for the camera as she lounged against a table in a pair of jeans in a complementary fuchsia shade.
The TV beauty let her chestnut locks cascade down her shoulders and she added a touch of make-up to highlight her natural beauty.
She added a touch of glam to her spring-ready look with an array of gold bracelets and a pendant chain.

The TV star appeared on season five of the ITV dating show and finished in third place with basketball player Ovie Soko.
Her post comes after she recently spoke to MailOnline about her split with ex Ovie and her new romance with a mystery suitor.
In the exclusive interview, she said: ‘I didn’t enjoy people commenting on my relationship, it’s a very personal thing.
‘I feel like I share quite a lot of my life on social media but you have to get that balance and keep some things for yourself.’
When asked if she’d ever post a picture with her boyfriend, India replied: ‘No, no, no, definitely not.
‘Never say never, maybe on my wedding day! And that won’t be happening anytime in the foreseeable future.’
