While competing on Dancing with the Stars in 2020, Emmy Award winning TV talk show host Jeannie Mai ( The Real ) was diagnosed with epiglottitis and had emergency surgery in October. She described it as “a throat abscess, where my tonsils and my throat had gotten so infected that it started permeating to the rest of the areas behind my neck and behind my ears.”
She couldn’t talk or chew immediately and was “underweight and malnourished” after being placed on a liquid diet following emergency surgery.
Two months later and Jeannie Mai looks extremely healthy as she celebrates her 42nd birthday in the bikini pics above and below. She wrote: “I’m grateful for the STRENGTH and resilience in my body after surgery, grateful to nourish it back to health, grateful for the healing love of my soulmate, Jay, and my family.”
Jeannie Mai is playing on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune on Thursday, January 21 at 8 pm with her Holey Moley co-stars Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore.

TV personality and talk-show host Jeannie Mai, best known for "The Real," took to Instagram to share a photo of herself in a beautiful bikini that made her look sexy.
In the image, the host was portrayed wearing a blue and black swimsuit and a beige hat while sitting on the edge of the balcony. According to the location tag, she was at the Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy.
"The Real" co-host was blowing a kiss at the camera while her tattoos and strong figure were clearly visible. In the caption, she wrote: “Wish I was kissin u instead of missin u [sic].”
As soon as she posted that picture, her fans and followers took to the comment section to share their thoughts. One of them was Instagram user @ammaayeshua, who pointed out that Mai’s skin was gorgeous and asked her to reveal her skincare routine.
@nlvegasang8301 chimed in and said that Mai was beautiful inside and out and that they admired her. @t59mig finally confessed that they loved the celebrity’s energy as she is “real and fun.”
Mai has been working on her body in a way that differs from what she used to do. At 1.62 meters and 103 pounds, she was so underweight that it was even unhealthy.
Things changed after Mai, and her ex-husband decided to part ways, though. Freddy Harteis, who has been married to Mai since 2007, is expecting a baby with his new girlfriend even though he and Mai split less than a year ago.
As a way to make Harteis feel sorry about what he lost, she has been working on her “revenge body.”
While most women lose weight to fulfill that purpose, Mai decided to go the other way and made the healthy decision of gaining some weight.
That change of diet and exercise plan was evident in her photo in Lake Como as she looks as beautiful as possible.
Apart from the picture, Mai recorded a short video to show her followers the wonderful scenery she was enjoying. Birds, boats, the mountains, the blue water, and the clear sky were the highlight of the post.
That was not the only day Mai shared photos and videos on Instagram as she has been doing it since her summery Italian getaway began.
She has been doing so to keep her fans and followers in touch with her, and with all the activities she has done during her free time.
One of those pictures portrayed a smiling Mai posing on a restaurant table in a bright yellow off-the-shoulder dress, white shoes, dark sunglasses, and a straw hat with a cocktail in her hand.
When the co-host decided to gain weight, she took to Instagram to let her fans know that. She put two pictures together showing herself wearing a bronze dress.
In the first one, she was at 103 pounds while the second one was more recent and the change was evident.
“Staying 103 came from my self control to lose ‘chubby’ teenage weight and a stressful idea that my body was built to look best ‘thin.’ As I'm nearing my 40s, I realize that I've been thru so much [expletive] mentally and emotionally, why the hell should my body be forced to suffer (from my over controlling ways) too [sic]?”
Three months after beginning her new body-change journey, she revealed that she didn’t have a weight goal and that she was eating more clean protein and carbs and, lifting heavy weights, and “truly loving” herself.
