Jenna Jameson has revealed she's facing a possible return to hospital, as she continues to be plagued by a long-running mystery illness.
The former adult film star, 48, was initially misdiagnosed with rare autoimmune disorder Guillain-Barré syndrome back in January as muscle atrophy in her legs left her unable to walk unaided and reliant on a wheelchair.
Following months of assuring fans that her recovery was heading in the right direction, the Hawaii-based model took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal that she was experiencing a setback.
"I'm not feeling very good," Jameson said in a self-shot video posted on her Instagram Story. "It looks I am going to have to go back into the hospital, and I am not excited about that. But I have to do what I have to do."
She rounded out the clip by thanking her social media followers for "hanging with me."
On June 17, Jameson shared a post on Instagram, in which she revealed that she had been experiencing low energy levels.
Captioning a filtered selfie, she wrote :" Feeling pretty tired lately... oddly enough it's still hard to sleep. Love you guys and keep me in your prayers. We are still looking for a definitive diagnosis."
Days later, she returned to the image-sharing platform on another of her Instagram accounts to share that while she had overcoming one problem, she was enduring another.
"Finally slept well last night. Woke up feeling weak," said Jameson. "Trying to stay positive and continue pushing forward. Love you guys."
Jameson had been previously released from hospital in February , after doctors spent several weeks treating her and attempting to diagnose her illness.
Back in April, she revealed that she had been working with a therapist who deals with "memory, like cognitive issues," explaining: "Since all of this went down, I have like lapses in my memory. My short-term memory is trash. It's just trash.
"My long-term is great, like I remember everything from my childhood. Can I remember only short-term stuff and forget the long-term? Because seriously it would probably be good for me."
She then went on to explain that medical professionals have informed her that her memory may have been negatively impacted by the stress of her illness. Jameson added her own theory that a lack of sleep may also be at the root of the issue.
"They seem to think that it [could] more be tied into stress," she said. "They think that it is a stress issue and less of a cognitive issue. So the brain is working, which is a good thing. That's my best asset—I mean, some people might argue, but whatever."
Jameson also said she had started taking supplements after discovering that she had "very low" thiamine levels.
"I am still alive," she said in a video shot from her bed. "We're still kind of looking for answers. One thing that's happening is that I have very low thiamine levels, which can affect a lot of different things in the body, including walking. Go figure.
"I think that my lack of thiamine in my body is definitely not helping... So I am taking a lot of vitamin B1 and doing a lot of physical therapy and hoping for the best. So keep me in your prayers."
Thiamine, which is found naturally in a number of foods and can be taken as a supplement, plays a vital role in energy metabolism and in the growth, development, and function of cells, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Early stages of a thiamine deficiency can cause "weight loss and anorexia, confusion, short-term memory loss, and other mental signs and symptoms; muscle weakness; and cardiovascular symptoms (such as an enlarged heart)," per the government agency.
Jameson's partner, Lior Bitton, said on Instagram back in January that the model had been "throwing up for a couple weeks," which led to her initial hospitalization. She underwent a CT scan before doctors sent her home, according to Bitton.
"Then she came back home and she couldn't carry herself," Bitton said. "Her muscles in her legs were very weak. So she wasn't able to walk to the bathroom.
"She was falling on the way back or to the bathroom. I would have to pick her up and carry her to bed. And then within two days it got really not so good. Her legs started to not hold her—she wasn't able to walk."
In March, Jameson admitted that she was finding her health woes "very mentally challenging," telling her followers: "I am slowly but surely building back strength. I am walking around with a walker.
"My legs have lost a lot of muscle, so I'm busy trying to build it back. This has been not only physically taxing, but I think more than that just... very mentally challenging. I'm used to hard challenges."

After spending just under two months in the hospital, Jenna Jameson has officially been discharged, though the former adult film star is still unable to walk as she waits for her diagnosis.
Jameson, 47, took to her Instagram Stories Tuesday, revealing that she is now “just resting” at home as doctors continue to grapple with what exactly caused her to lose her ability to walk — in addition to suffering weeks of vomiting — in early January.
“I still have more testing to do but it seems there’s something off with my femoral nerve, and it’s affecting my strength in my legs,” she said. “So I am still in a wheelchair, unfortunately, but I hope to be out of the wheelchair soon and walking, so say a little prayer.”
According to Mountsinai.org , the femoral nerve is in the pelvis and goes down the front of the leg.
Jameson was initially diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, “a rare, autoimmune disorder in which a person’s own immune system damages the nerves,” according to the CDC.
Boyfriend Lior Bitton, however, later confirmed that she in fact did not suffer from Guillain-Barré syndrome , meaning doctors are still searching for answers.
“It was confirmed by the doctor after a second test and five rounds of IVIG [a therapy treatment for patients with antibody deficiencies]. So, she does not have the Guillain-Barré. … We’ll keep you posted soon,” the Israeli businessman shared at the time.
Jameson went on to show a bit of movement in her legs as she revealed her “quad strength is really, really, really weak, and as you can see, I have some atrophy happening.”
“My legs are incredibly skinny,” she continued. “But don’t get too alarmed, because my legs have always been ultra skinny. So don’t judge me. We will be back to the best soon!”
