25-year-old model caused outrage when she stripped off for a photo on top of a sacred site in New Zealand
MODEL Jaylene Cook isn't shy about sharing photographs of her body, showing off her glamorous life of travel and modelling to thousands of social media followers.
But she's made headlines around the world after appearing naked at a sacred site. Here's what we know about her...
Jaylene Cook is a glamour model who was born in New Zealand but currently lives on the Gold Coast in Australia.
The 25-year-old has been a Playboy Playmate, becoming the Miss January Playmate for Mexico earlier this year.
Her modelling work includes shoots with a number of men's magazines, with the young woman making the cover of Universe 137 Magazines in April as well as featuring in FHM and Peeled Magazine.
She has most recently been travelling around New Zealand, sharing photographs at the Bay of Islands and Waikato.
Cook is currently travelling with boyfriend and photographer Josh Shaw.
Jaylene shares photographs of her travels on Instagram, calling herself a "plane hopper" and "adventure chaser".
Photographs of the model scantily-clad in a variety of have attracted more than 298,000 followers on Instagram - for little more than 300 photos.
Her Facebook page has also attracted more than 25,000 likes.
Speaking to Magzter, Cook said that she loved social media, saying: "If used correctly, social media can be used as a massive tool."
One of the photographs shared on the popular model's Instagram showed her wearing just a beanie, gloves and trainers and posing on top of Mt Taranaki in New Zealand.
Sharing the image, she wrote: "This climb has forever changed me.
"I proved just how far I could push myself and I am truly proud of my accomplishment. This mountain was steep, rugged, ever changing and just pure brutal! Safe to say, I will never do it again."
Social media users slammed her for being insensitive about the sacred site, with one writing: "And you couldn't enjoy getting to the top without taking off your clothes?"
Jaylene has now been warned she’s now cursed for life because of the nude stunt.
Residents and Maori academics branded the image, which clocked up nearly 28,000 likes on Instagram, as “disrespectful” and “inappropriate”.
The controversy continued on social media after the glamour model lashed out telling fans – “Maori are not indigenous”.
The outburst happened when one Instagram user commented: “Hey Jaylene, would you do a nude photo shoot at a church or a war memorial, or do you only like to disrespect indigenous sacred sites? Hope your five mins of fame was worth the curses that will haunt you for life.”
Jaylene is not the only one to have stripped off for a photo - with it becoming quite the trend on social media.
According to Māori mythology Mt Taranaki was initially located in the centre of the North Island, but lost a mighty battle with another mountain for the heart of pretty Mount Pihanga.
The area is considered the burial ground of the tribe’s ancestor and is itself seen as an ancestor.
They believe climbing to the top of the peak is inappropriate and is only very rarely done for ceremonial purpose.
Tourists are advised not to not stand directly on the summit stone, and do not litter or camp on the summit.

Although the couple said they didn’t stand on the head of the mountain out of respect for the Maori culture, locals claim the picture is ‘disrespectful.’
Maori academic Dennis Ngawhare told Stuff.co.nz said members of the community are unhappy about the image.
‘I’d imagine you will be getting a few comments from people saying what’s wrong with that? Who cares? But I also know cousins and relatives who will be quite upset about it. They would consider it as being disrespectful towards the mountain.’

Mr Ngawhare said his family has never climbed the mountain because it is believed to be an ancestor.
‘I accept people climb up to the summit, but what we do ask is that people be respectful.’
Ms Cook, who lives with Josh on the Gold Coast in Australia , argued that being naked is natural and not disrespectful.
‘[The photo’s] not crude or explicit in any way. We made ourselves knowledgeable on the history of the mountain. We were quite respectful. Being nude is not something that is offensive in anyway. It’s natural and pure and it’s about freedom and empowerment,’ she told Stuff.co.nz.
Ms Cook told Daily Mail Australia she’s not surprised the picture has drawn some criticism but chalked it up to it ‘being a matter of opinion.’
‘It’s just point of view. We believe that we were very respectful, we were picking up others people’s rubbish that was left up there and we made ourselves aware of the culture.’
The Playboy playmate said by the time the couple reached the top of the mountain, they were exhausted but exhilarated.
‘It was an impulse to strip off and feel the cold air and embrace it a bit.’

Ms Cook, who is touring the country with Mr Shaw, said the couple stopped off in Taranaki and decided to go for a hike after seeing the beauty of the area.
The couple bought clothes at a local second-hand shop and set off at 2am.

The picture has gained more than 8,500 likes on Ms Cook’s Instagram, which features multiple images of the 25-year-old in states of undress or entirely nude.
‘This climb has forever changed me. I proved just how far I could push myself and I am truly proud of my accomplishment. This mountain was steep, rugged, ever changing and just pure brutal! Safe to say, I will never do it again,’ she wrote with the image.

'Maori legend has it that Mount Taranaki was initially located in the centre of the North Island, but lost a mighty battle with another mountain for the heart of pretty Mount Pihanga.'
'Banished west to his current position, it is still said that when the 2518m peak is hidden by clouds, the Mountain is hiding the tears he sheds for lost love.'
'The Taranaki Maori were driven from their land by invading Waikato tribespeople in the early 19th century.'
'When local Te Atiawa people returned decades later, they found the first English settlers – the consequence of Captain Cook’s ‘discovery’ - had purchased their land from the few remaining Maori, sparking the turbulent decade-long Taranaki Land Wars of the 1860s.'
'In 1881, British confiscation of 1.3 million acres of prime Taranaki land resulted in a civil disobedience movement encouraged by chief Te Whiti O Rongomai, which saw hundreds of followers arrested and widespread damage to people, buildings and crops.'
Although the couple said they didn't stand on the head of the mountain out of respect for the Maori culture, locals claim the picture is 'disrespectful.'
