A small town family is wrecked after a murder tears apart their “happy” home. Disturbing truths are revealed as one family member digs deeper to discover what really happened when the family lost a child.— The story centers on Jayden, a troubled fifteen year-old who has lost her brother as well as dealing with physical and substance abuse problems. Jayden is starting to exhibit behavior like her mother, a diagnosed schizophrenic with a history of violence and methamphetamine addiction. Derrick, oblivious to his daughters growing angst, submerges himself into an alcoholic pit of self-pity as he tries to process the loss of his son and offers little help to defend Jayden when her mother escapes custody in an effort to dispatch her.
Dirk Knight is a pseudonym for M.D. (Michael Dirk) Thalmann, who lives in Phoenix with his wife and daughters, and writes a column and does freelance for a few magazines. He has a series of satire and science fictions works, as well. Dirk Knight is the dark side of M.D. Thalmann, where he lets all the evil and bile just run amuck. “I started writing as Dirk Knight for myself (as a way to vent), to satisfy urges and entertain my curiosities. I wanted to know how many of us think the way I do. I have lived in the most depressing and joyful situations. I have starved and lived in cars, I have also had more money that I could spend and had gifts that brought me exquisite joy. From my vantage point, humans are the most unpredictable, astonishing, hateful and sacrificing creatures. I want to understand us (humanity) better and, for me, understanding of humanity comes from writing fiction, and examining what people might do when they feel no one is watching, what people are capable of (horrible and great), and imaging how seemingly normal people would react if they had exhausted the rational (and sometimes irrational) options. Jayden's Revenge
An enjoyable short story, well written and quick to read, I felt sorry for Jayden when I started reading, she even manipulated me, I really didn't expect what happened at the end.
This book was written for teens and tweens.. I could not relate and didn't get past page 4.

Fantastic Book
This was an absolutely wonderful story. From the moment I picked it up I couldnt put it down. The author did a great job of writing it in a way that keeps the reader on their toes and the emotional turns were very exciting. The point of view was very entertaining and developed the characters in a way that made you feel as though you knew them once. I am looking forward to ordering the next book by this author!!!
Although Jayden's Revenge is a short story, Dirk Knight presents us with characters developed beyond the normal two-dimensionality of the genre to characters we quickly identify with. His portrayal of drug and alcohol use is both unapologetic and realistic. From the first page, the story effortlessly builds sympathy for the main character Jayden and the ending provides a twist that was entirely unexpected. A page turner from the beginning. I found my mind returning to the character's motivation throughout the rest of the day. I look forward to more works from this author!
I was truly captivated by this story. The twists kept me guessing for sure. This is a very telling tale that I am sure is more common than not, in today's behind closed door society. Great read! Keep up the good work. I can't wait to read more of your works.

M.D. (Michael Dirk) Thalmann, a novelist and freelance journalist with an affinity for satire and science fiction, lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife, children, and ornery cats, reads too much and sleeps too little. He has a couple dogs, too, but doesn’t like to mention them due to the slippers one of them ate in 2009, which neither has yet fessed up to. He is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and has been living in the desert since 2004 when he took the novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas entirely too serious and moved on a lark. He has been into journalism in one fashion or another and writing fiction and so on since he was ten years old or so and has gotten at least 20% better since that time. Today M.D. writes freelance and does columns for a few magazines here and there while working on his various novels and cursing his cats.

Guess What? Last week was Jayden’s best week ever. Do you know why it was his best week ever? Well it’s because he finally got his brother into trouble. Jayden’s brother (Kyle) wouldn’t let him play with any of his toys. So one day Jayden decided to plan a revenge on Kyle. ‘’I know exactly what I will do’’ declared Jayden. He went into the kitchen and poured out all the sugar and flour. He took out all the fruits and vegetables and dropped it all on the floor. “Mum! Dad! Kyle just made a mess in the kitchen’’. Mum and Dad dashed into the kitchen and they were shocked. At first they thought it was Kyle’s fault but then they saw that there was flour on Jayden’s shirt. Jayden was grounded for a month. Jayden was still mad about being grounded so he decided to plan revenge. At 4 o’clock the next day Jayden went outside the garden.
