Java And Bedrock Editions Merge, Creating One Minecraft To Rule Them All

The phenomenal success of Minecraft didn't come without its issues, among them was that the game was developed in Java. This is still the version that many players prefer, due to a laundry list of reasons, however for a long time, the standard edition of the game has been the Bedrock edition that was changed to simply 'Minecraft' at the end of 2017.

Confused? The differences are very important to players who play Minecraft and its multiplayer, the most crucial being that it's easier to modify the Java version. Whatever way you play the game, there was one major flaw on PC: you had to buy both versions separately. Mojang and Microsoft have announced that the two versions of the game, that are widely considered to be the most successful of all time and will be merged into Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition (PC) from on June 7.

This is a clever name. Sagor's Blog It allows buyers to play both versions of Minecraft and is the "only version of vanilla Minecraft on Windows PC." Of course, you'll be able to cross-play with either Java or Bedrock players by launching the whichever version your friends are playing."

Players who have one of the versions of the game will be upgraded to the duo-pack version. Mojang claims that this could take several days to fully be released however all owners of the game should find the new package appears immediately in their Minecraft Launcher over the next few days.

Mojang has stated that Java and Bedrock would remain separate games, with their own unique features. "The only difference is that you can get both as standard when you buy Minecraft for your Windows PC, and access them both from the same launcher."

The differences between the two versions haven't been without controversy in the past: Java players got upset when the game began insisting on having a Microsoft account (opens in new tab). This change appears to be logical and beneficial to players.

Minecraft is in excellent health. Players are currently waiting for the massive Wilds update (opens new tab). It is still a constant presence in the real world, most recently being used for Macron's reelection campaign (opens new tab). I wonder how many people are able to vote on this server. No matter which edition they use, players continue to create stunning visual spectacles in this endlessly imaginative and complex world (opens new tab).
