Role Description As a Japanese Transcriber (Freelance) at DatoviaPlayHouse, you will listen to Japanese audio or video content and accurately convert it into written text following project-specific guidelines. You will review and correct automated transcripts, ensuring proper spelling, punctuation, speaker labeling, and formatting. Day-to-day tasks include verifying content accuracy, maintaining consistency with style guides, and meeting deadlines for assigned files. You may also be asked to annotate, timestamp, or categorize content to support AI training and localization projects. This is a contract, project-based role that is fully remote, allowing you to work from any location with a reliable internet connection.
Qualifications
* Strong command of written and spoken Japanese, with excellent listening comprehension across different accents and speaking styles.
* Ability to understand basic English instructions, guidelines, and tools used for project communication.
* Proven experience in transcription, captioning, or similar text-based language work is highly preferred.
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency when following style guides and formatting rules.
* Comfort working with transcription or annotation platforms, media players, and productivity tools.
* Reliable internet connection, personal computer or laptop, and a quality headset for clear audio review.
* Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple files, and meet turnaround times for freelance projects.
* Familiarity with AI data projects, localization, or language services is a plus.
* Previous remote freelance experience and comfort working independently with minimal supervision.
