Role Description The Japanese Audio Transcriber-[Appen] role is a remote, contract position focused on converting Japanese audio content into accurate written text. Day-to-day tasks include listening to audio recordings in Japanese, transcribing speech with careful attention to accuracy, formatting, and context, and applying project-specific guidelines. The role may also involve segmenting audio, labeling or annotating data for AI training, and verifying or correcting existing transcripts. Transcribers are expected to manage their own schedules within project deadlines, maintain confidentiality of all data, and collaborate with project coordinators through online tools and communication platforms.
Qualifications
* Strong Japanese language proficiency (native or near-native) and solid understanding of grammar, vocabulary, and colloquial expressions.
* Excellent listening and transcription abilities, including accurate typing, attention to detail, and consistency in formatting and style.
* Comfort working with audio tools, transcription platforms, and basic computer applications; ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
* Good reading comprehension and written communication skills in English for following guidelines and communicating with project teams.
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and meet project-based deadlines.
* High level of reliability, professionalism, and respect for data privacy and confidentiality requirements.
* Previous experience in transcription, data annotation, or localization is beneficial but not strictly required.
