The Moorish idol (Zanclus cornutus) is a marine fish species, the sole extant representative of the family Zanclidae (from the Greek "oblique") in order Perciformes. A common inhabitant of tropical to subtropical reefs and lagoons, the Moorish idol is notable for its wide distribution throughout the Indo-Pacific. A number of butterflyfishes (genus Heniochus) closely resemble the Moorish idol. It is closely related to, if not a direct descendant of, the extinct Eozanclus brevirostris, from the Middle Eocene of Monte Bolca. The Moorish idol got its name from the Moors of Africa, who purportedly believed the fish to be a bringer of happiness. Moorish idols are also a coveted aquarium fish but, despite their abundance and wide array of habitats, they are notoriously finicky and hard to adjust to captivity. Their omnivorous diet can be extremely difficult to replicate in aquaria, as the vegetation which they live on is normally exterminated and they have a habit of eating corals and sponges.Generally denizens of shallow waters, Moorish idols prefer flat reefs. This fish may be found at depths from 3 to 180 m, in both murky and clear conditions. Their range includes East Africa, the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf and the Ducie Islands; Hawaii, southern Japan, and all of Micronesia; they are also found from the southern Gulf of California south to Peru. 24426

A young Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) rests on a log after climbing out of the warm waters of the onsen that draws hundreds of monkeys and tourists alike, Jigokudani Monkey Park, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
For some time prior to visiting I wondered how the monkeys did not catch hypothermia after emerging from the hot springs, as I speculated that their wet fur must inevitably become a chill, clinging blanket in the cold winter air before it could dry. As if to answer my question, this young one climbed out of the water after swimming around for awhile and made it all seem so very trivial. It simply shook vigorously for no more than 5-10 seconds, much as dogs are wont to do, and the result was what you see here: nearly dry and with a shocking resemblance to Billy Idol.
As we watched them swim, play, heckle each other, and gambol about, the scene did raise other questions. Even though the cold creek was nearby, I noticed that many of the macaques came to the onsen to drink rather than take water from the faster-moving stream. I also noticed several turds float through the same warm water quite near to where the monkeys were actively drinking. I had wondered whether the monkeys had the common decency not to crap in the hot tub, and apparently they do not. I now wonder whether the onsen are a point source for macaque coliform diseases, whether susceptible individuals simply don't survive very long, or whether the primate diet and immune systems are such that a few coliform bacteria here and there can be blithely ignored. I do know that if the Oregon Trail is anything to go by, human beings would likely contract cholera and dysentery in record time by engaging in such practices.

This livery celebrates the 20th anniversary of the debut of the Japanese male idol group Arashi. This aircraft was originally operated on Hawaii routes, but due to the COVID disaster, it is now being used for cargo flights for Asia and Europe route. This livery will probably end at the end of 2020.

I was going to offer one to singer Momoko, and show her this to ask her if her collection was missing any of these, since she is a big fan of the singers here. I brought the photo to a Junna concert last April 1st where I thought I might see her again. But she was doing a TV appearance at that time. Anyway, at top: "Boku!!! Vol. 1" featuring singer actress Junna Morishita's first idol image video appearance, with 2 other models. Then Junna's first whole video "Pure White 1st issue" which contains 3 music videos, her showing her rabbits collection etc.. Then her 2nd full video "Fureru no Kajitsu." Then her third, "Honi Honi-Cuty Fruity Junna." Bottom row: movie "Cutie Knight 2" which starred Junna with Yuko Kobayashi, Akane Kanazawa and Sara Shimada. Then Junns'a "Pure White 2nd issue" video. Then Aoi Mizuno's video "Frill Voi. 5" Aoi is retired now but she and Junna are still best friends.

I am with Japanese pop rock singer Minami Hoshino. She holds Hopper. This was at the end of a fan club event. The tennis game was cancelled because of the heat but we and other fans had a Chinese restaurant lunch. I won an autographed tennis ball of her because I was the only one who guessed strawberries were her favorite fruit. Maybe they thought strawberry favoritism was kind of an exclusive domain of Junna Morishita, another Artemis Promotions idol like Minamin was at the time; Junna's first single was "Ichigo no Shizuku" (Dewdrops of a Strawberry.) She is also on my site.

Me: "You knew they'd do something cute and fun with you!"
Hopper: "Yup! What's the matter, Shiroi, are you jealous?"
Me: "At least I can actually take the photos, Hopper. You can't hold a camera."
Hopper: "You can't hold your sake."
Hopper: "See? What did I tell you?"
Me: "Hopper, I already took your photo several times with the whole We-Kidd trio. Now as soon as you see your favorite let her hair down, you had to go hopping back to get her attention again. There's no excuse for that."
Hopper: "Oh, who's the gaijin in the front row with the bunny trying to upstage all the Japanese hare-less guys in the audience?"
Me: "I'm not trying to upstage anyone! We can't help what we are, Hopper!"
Hopper: "Thanks, you just answered a bunch of your own questions and set me up for more fun! I can't help what I am, an Asian cutie idol magnet, yaay! Cowabunga! I mean, bunnybunga!"
