Femboy Hooters refers to a series of memes exploring the concept of establishing a Hooters restaurant staffed by scantily-clad feminine crossdressing males.
On October 1, 2019, Twitter [1] user @Comfy_Times tweeted "hooters but its staffed entirely by femboys". The tweet received over 170 retweets and 840 likes in eight months (shown below).

On November 13th, 2019, Twitter [10] user @AliceAvizandum posted about a hypothetical apocalyptic future where "there’s one restaurant chain and it’s called ‘Femboy Hooters~’."(shown below, left). The tweet received over 80 retweets and 490 likes in seven months.
The idea did not see viral spread until March 2020. On March 11 Twitter user @Drommels_YT tweeted "we need a femboy hooters" (tweet shown below, right), gaining over 1,200 retweets and 4,900 likes in three months. [2]
On the same day, Redditor [3] Grrundee posted a screenshot of the tweet to the /r/gay_irl subreddit, gaining over 1400 upvotes in three months. On March 16th, Instagram [11] user germed.avi posted a video based on a photoshop mockup of Femboy Hooters, with the post receiving over 1,000 views and 280 likes in three months and gaining viral spread online in the following weeks (shown below, left). On March 17th, Instagram [4] user femboy_factory reposted the photoshop (shown below, right) with the post gaining over 740 likes.
On March 19, 2020, Instagram [5] user andrew_lastname posted a meme combining the intro to Duke Nukem Forever with the caption "Me, a regular at Femboy Hooters" ( reupload shown below). The post received over 5,300 likes in three months.
On March 27, 2020, the r/femboyhooters [6] subreddit was created, with more memes exploring the concept being posted on Reddit, Twitter, iFunny , TikTok and other platforms in the following months. For example, on May 21st, TikTok [7] user fourapricots posted a Thanos meme which received over 68,400 views and 16,500 likes in one month. On May 31st, Twitter [8] artist @ms_pigtails posted an artwork that received over 3,500 retweets and 19,100 likes in one week, prompting a surge in popularity of the meme in the following days.
On May 20th, 2020, Change.org [9] user Cassidy Corbin created a petition for opening a Femboy Hooters restaurant, with the petition gaining over 1,500 signatures as of June 5th, 2020.
