Will anyone be surprised if this guy is caught driving drunk again? I certainly won't. I just hope no one else has to die or end up in a wheel chair because of him.

Didn't even bother reading post replies. The justice system is so messed up IMO. I think an "eye for an eye" would be appropriate in this and similar cases.
I have never driven UTI. I have left my car, called a DD, etc. I'm so sick of stupid irresponsible people with every excuse in the world. Also tired of the people who get off with a slap on the wrist... And the judges who let them off.

Remember Ethan Crouch--that teen who had 'affluenza' according to a psychologist and couldn't be held totally accountable for his actions?
Anyhow, he's out of the can after less than 2 years. 4 dead from the crash and one victim that's paralyzed and can communicate only by blinking.
Wonder what affliction and sentence they would give someone who was middle class or poor...

That was a perversion of the legal system, and the attorney should be derided and scorned by his colleagues and judges.
Little wonder why there is so little respect for the legal system, when travesties like this occur.

They didn't buy the defense. The media just picked up on the lame defense because it made for good headline fodder as it was a great class warfare type story. It ran amok from there.
He was 16 years old, first time offender, in a state that doesn't have as rigorous of laws against impaired driving as some others.
If he'd been 18 or older, he'd have gotten 4-5 years in jail, serving maybe 2.
People kinda keep glossing over the fact that he was a minor.
I have a friend that has a kid in his school on parole for taking part in an ARMED ROBBERY. (Kid was like 14ish when he did it)

Interesting to note that there are VASTLY different penalties by state. Cultural as well as economic lobbies (large beer makers for example) and other factors all play a part in this.
There are also age-related considerations which again....vary by state.
I've tried to find other examples of kids <18 getting jail sentences in TX for DUI manslaughter but didn't find any....but I found tons for anyone 18+.
