Poison Ivy has had more than her fair share of costumes over the years, and in a new cosplay of the character, Ivy brings something new to the table!
The fiendish and floral Batman villain known as Poison Ivy is a character that cosplayers love to take a crack at in unique and creative ways, and now in a different kind of design, Ivy gets a look that’s less like the impractical spandex outfit she always seems to wear on the job and more like what Ivy might actually wear (or grow) in real life!
Posted up on Instagram by username @bleeding_fingers_cosplay , cosplayer Stephanie Donaldson is a creative talent whose nerdy costumes consistently bring fresh new designs to characters hailing from all across the pop culture spectrum. Uploading images of not only her awesome DC Comics costumes , but her Sailor Moon , Dragon Age , Magic: The Gathering , Ghost in the Shell , and others as well, Stephanie doesn’t skimp on the details that make these characters tick while giving fans her takes on heroes and villains that reflect her creative voice in the cosplay medium perfectly.
An iconic villain from Batman’s long list of rogues, Pamela Isley aka Poison Ivy debuted in DC Comics continuity in 1966 to immediate acclaim. Created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino, Ivy is often labeled as an eco-terrorist, as a lot of her misdeeds stem from her wanting to protect The Green by using her plant-related powers to manipulate, poison, murder, and maim those who step in her way. Often seen wearing some form of green leotard or leaf-patterned spandex, Ivy getting a more realistic and fashionable look thanks to Stephanie can’t be understated, as it’s a sight that needs to be seen for fans of the character.
Dressed in Poison Ivy’s usual green and red hues, Stephanie immediately shows fans how different her Ivy design is compared to what’s been seen before. Made up to look like she’s finally become the Queen of The Green, Stephanie gives Ivy a stylish and flowy makeover that accentuates the beauty of her leaves and various flowers -- a stark contrast to the more deadly way Ivy usually depicts her floral motif . Wearing a crown of vines placed on top of her vibrant red hair, Stephanie’s green eyes, crimson lipstick, leafy corset, red and green draped dress material, and other inspired Ivy-like choices make this cosplay stand out as one that does something new with this iconic DC villain while making it undeniably Stephanie’s own.
Stephanie has gone above and beyond the call of duty with this costume, turning it into something that unexpectedly brings out the beauty in Ivy’s look while never losing sight of the danger inherent to the character. Though not everyone's favorite, Soul Calibur's Ivy is one of the most famous characters in fighting games, and the inspiration for amazing cosplay.
The gaming industry hasn't always had the smoothest track record when it comes to female character designs, and Ivy Valentine has received her fair share of criticism . That being said, Soulcalibur 's poster girl is in an extremely powerful position within the competitive scene and is regularly considered one of the strongest , most demanding heroes to master within the game.
Characterized by her mature appearance and bold, suggestive attire, not to mention her sword which can turn into a whip, Ivy is one of the most well-known characters in the world of fighting games. It's no wonder she's also the subject of a ton of incredible cosplays from talented creators.
Ivy's signature colors tend to always be the same from game to game. Her outfits often have different shades of purple or burgundy, giving her that impeccable regal appearance that often seems to be the main inspiration for some of her more modest looks.
This purple-and-burgundy outfit by Crystal Graziano is just superb with how it reflects light. Not to mention the gilded details show that this outfit took a lot of work and attention to detail to finish.
Most players might scoff at Ivy and consider her design as nothing more than male eye candy. However, there's a silver lining to a character like her, and it's the fact that if you really look into it, Ivy's actually one heck of a strong woman. She has to be, given her unique fighting style .

One of the best cosplayers for Ivy Valentine and a potential real-life look alike for the character would without a doubt be Juk Cosplay . Not only are all her costumes perfect down to every detail, but she knows how to embody her characters.
This purple outfit from Ivy Valentine is one of her signature looks, and the details on it are absolutely stunning. The gloves especially are just as seen in the game, complete with the small gold plating.
Environment and backdrop is pretty important for any cosplayer as it can really be the cherry on top of an already stunning costume. Ivysensvies proves as mcuh by hitting the internet with this stunning cosplay of Ivy's Soulcalibur V look.
The setting just perfect, much like a stage from the actual game itself, and her jacket is so well-made it's actually insane that it isn't official merchandise from the franchise itself.
Perfection is the only word that comes to mind when looking upon this absolutely dazzling costume from cosplayer Bajamayo . Nothing went unaddressed in this outfit. Every seam, golden detail and carving is right where it belongs, as though Ivy herself stepped right out of the game.
One of the best parts in this costume has to be the shoulder padding, which just showcases the insane craftsmanship from the cosplayer herself. And let's not even talk about the hilt of the sword.
Ivy's costume from Soulcalibur V is of one fans' favorites, and for good reason. It has that exquisite combination of regal air and Ivy's trademark maturity. The lace bodice in particular is a really gorgeous detail, showcased nicely here by cabezadebaka .
Some of the highlights of this beautiful costume include the sword itself, here shown in its whip mode and perfectly wrapping around Ivy. The glove and the shoulder padding are also full of precious details that are just a testament to the sheer dedication of the creator.
True fans might recall another iconic outfit that Ivy has worn throughout the years, and while it might not be as popular as her default costumes, it's nice to see cosplayers give it a bit of love as well.
Cosplayer hcnxxy decided to bring Ivy's bodysuit to life down to its fluffy white details that have that signature diva aesthetic Ivy's known for. The sword here is obviously one of the main focuses, with incredible detail to its carving and painting.
Armor and weapons are definitely not easy to make, but cosplayer khainsaw proves it's possible with hard work and dedication. In this photoshoot of her Ivy Valentine cosplay, all the metallic straps and details of her suit look so real and fantastic that she may as well be Ivy Valentine herself.
The sword is especially noteworthy here due to being in its whip form. Each piece of it was individually carved and designed, and it was clearly worth the effort, given how incredible it looks.
Ivy's physique is pretty hard to copy, but swootybooty could easily be a sister to Ivy Valentine, given how much she looks like the character. The costume fits her so well that it wouldn't surprise anyone if she claimed she wears it every day for her errands.
One of the best parts of this costume is the paint job on her shoulder pad and gauntlet, which was done in a way to make them look old and worn out. The sword actually looks metallic and made from chains, which adds to the realism of this gorgeous outfit.
Back to this iconic but lesser well-known Ivy Valentine body suit with a daring V-neck, it was a breath of fresh air to see a second cosplayer cover this one as well. Dzzirro saw the potential in this golden diva suit and took no prisoners when it came to the details.
The fur and gold detailing look fantastic, but what's really the highlight here is the snake around her neck. Such a rare, fabulous treat for Soulcalibur cosplay enthusiasts to see this costume get some love.
