Itty Bitty Titty Committee - Babbit's finger is on the pulse of queer cinema
Wickedly talented director Jamie Babbit once again has her finger on the pulse of queer culture with this wry romantic comedy in which anarchic punk twenty-somethings vivaciously vandalize patriarchal symbols under the name of the C(I)A (Clits in Action). Fresh out of high school, mundane lesbian Anna has no direction or motivation. Having recently broken up with her girlfriend, she is the maid of honor at her picture perfect sister's wedding and works a monotonous job at a plastic surgery clinic. It's not until she meets foxy Sadie as she's spray painting empowering statements on Anna's office window that she wakes up and finds a purpose. Intrigued, she follows Sadie down a seedy back alley to her guerrilla girls' headquarters and meets the other membersangst-laden artist Meat, brainchild Shulasmith and ally transman Aggie. Even though these rebels are a bit slapdash, their down-with-the-man attitude and infectious style has the precocious baby-dyke fired up and joining the fight! As the estrogen flows during a crucial road trip, frolicking friends and alluring glances ignite a steamy romance between Anna and Sadie that could upset the delicate order of the C(I)A. Set to the inspiring riot grrl music of Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill and Le Tigre, Itty Bitty Titty Committee isn't your traditional feminist film: instead, it's an ode to grrl power for the gender-bending queer punk generation. This film was a lot of fun! As passionate and serious as these anti-male-dominated-society grrls tried to be, they tended not to stray too far from reality and didn't take themselves too seriously. There were lots of hard laughs for me, starting with the name C(I)A and ending with the take-over of the Marcy Maloney TV set! In addition to all the fun and laughter, I also enjoyed the themes of friendship, loyalty, betrayal, and purpose. 10 stars!

Sadly, neither the cast nor the director really made anything else that is worth bringing up. This movie is kind of a college coming-of-age romantic comedy with great writing and chemistry. it's also funny to this mostly straight guy. Why you should watch it: it's just a good movie, it's not great, it's not even great by lesbian movie standards. It's funny and the performances are convincing. Why you should own it: It's not on Blu-ray or streaming. It's also rare. Why you should not watch it: There is not a lot of sex, you'll have better luck with other movies or the L-Word. There's no sequel or prequel. Which is too bad. Cuz' I want to know what happened next.
Quatrefoil, a non-profit LGBTQ library in Minneapolis, sells overstock items on Amazon. Most of the used DVDs I purchased from Quatrefoil are very rare. When they are available online, the cost is much more than the library's asking price. My shipment arrived 2 days after I ordered, with a nice thank you note. there have negative and positive reviews of this movie. people as usual indicate they didnt care for the feminists in the movie to be like them (you find that argument in most gay movies). its a movie about gay feminists mostly except shulie and annas mother. yes the feminists in this movie take measures to illegal lengths and were not perfect people. Sadie was pretty strong in her march as a feminist but you find in a short while that shes rather gutless in her own life and jumps from girl to girl while still with her older more conservative girlfriend who runs a non profit womens group called women for change but isnt as radical as the c(I)a that sadie is with. anna stomps on her family and friends (id say co workers but they were kind of hm douchebags? lol) and has to learn that everyone isnt her enemy and that though she is finding a sense of power for the first time she needs to care about how she affects the people in her life. meats still holding onto alot of anger about her affections for sadie. courtneys feeling like an old worn out shoe. shulie has no faith in anybody. aggie, well aggies precious, i just love aggie. they arent perfect people and most are budding feminists still tripping over their own two feet. i questioned the facts thrown out in this movie but they seemed to pan out. i love this movie. its lots of fun and with a generattion that takes advantage without apreciation of the right that they hold today it sets a spark to get the attention of a new generation of feminists and in a world still in need of change that in itself is important.

Wouldn't play. The DVD skipped too much to get past the intro.
The message of standing up for women's rights and fighting the objectification of women was the one saving grace of this film. The characters could not have tried any harder to overact, and it was barely watchable. Or perhaps I've outgrown this age bracket of Lesbian drama. My partner and I watch some of the "standouts" occasionally, but this one will not be a benchmark for me. The movie does offer some interesting psychological twists such as the relationship between the older woman who founded an organization, and the young, blonde (and extremely overacted), girl. The "roughing up" of the network was funny, and the highlight of the film, but overall, this film was a "miss" for me.

This is an amusing little film. It's not a great or imposing work of art. It's about a bunch of rather silly self-important feminists. Well, no, not really. It is primarily a love story between two very sexy lesbians, who happen to be committed activists. Their struggles against what they see as society's continuing oppression of women is never very believable, but the love story is real enough, and the lovers are sympathetic. You want them to get together, because you can easily see that they are meant for each other. But if you are at all like me, you can't ever work up much interest in their activism, which just seems a bit embarrassing.
Every once in a while you have a great starting point, and this was one such case, but it never took off to soar, it just kind of hunkered down in the land of safe, avoided all risks, and opted out of challenging the premise to find a "safe" way out of the issue. Good actors without a good story, still worth a watch for a late night don't want to think too much movie. In reality the title has no real relationship to the movie, it is kind of tied on to get people to pick up the box.
This movie was recommended by a friend, so I ordered a copy through Amazon. Excellent film, really well done! I would certainly recommend this movie to anyone that is interested in a woman centered society, interested in feminist ideologies, or if you are a supporter of feminism. This film examines radical feminism in a light, fun, humorous fashion.

5stars for this film, had me in stitches all the way through. I thought i might regret buying this until until i saw the actresses and i am so glad i bought it. It is fun, exciting, and a great story line to. Its a must-see film for everyone.

OK lesbian story line but at times very cringing. Good to have in collection but not sure I'd recommend film. "Max" from L-word stars in it, so if you're into her, check it out lol :-)
