A pushchair that is all-terrain and offers outstanding maneuverability will work whether you're seeking a stroller for nature walks or a stroll on the high street. These models typically come with large wheels and suspension that gives an easy ride on rough terrain.
The majority of them are suitable from birth and come with a lie-flat baby seat or newborn carrycot. These vehicles also have tyres that never flatten, and are usually comprised from foam.
Suspension
A true all-terrain pushchair should have a sturdy suspension that is designed to be extra smooth and comfortable on rough terrain. This will help your child feel relaxed and at ease. Seat
There is a broad selection of 3-wheeled all-terrain pushchairs, which offer a superb off-road capability. These are perfect if you reside in the countryside or regularly walk on uneven, rough terrain. They are often more robust and durable than a standard pushchair, and come with features such as large wheels that can withstand punctures to deal with the toughest of surfaces. They tend to be quite large, which means they may be difficult to maneuver in narrow spaces or through aisles in stores.
The seat on an all-terrain buggy could be world or parent facing and will grow with your child, from newborn to toddler (it's suitable for children as young as 6 months). It has 'never-flat' foam-filled tyres that provide a smooth ride. It also has dual frame suspension luxurious padding and a seat with great postural support. It also features a recline mechanism and comes with an extended sun hood that can be extended that has integrated ventilation as well as a smart phone pocket.

It's an all-terrain stroller that's an inspiration. 3 wheel pushchair has excellent suspension and tyres with air-filled so it's able to jog when your child is of the right age. It also comes with a 360 swivel lockable front wheel that allows for manoeuvrability and an easy fold that's quick and simple. It's suitable for babies from birth and can be combined with an UPPAbaby carrycot or infant car seat adaptors (sold separately).
A lot of all-terrain pushchairs do not have a reversible seat, but the likes of the Oyster 3, Venicci Tinum and egg 2 do come with this option and both offer an excellent level of off-road capability and a decent weight limit for a two-year old. There are also many pushchairs that are classified as all-rounders like the iCandy Pear and Bugaboo Cameleon, which cope very well with the rough terrain of the park or National Trust places but don't offer the off-road capabilities of all-terrain pushchairs.
There are also crossover models that are an excellent compromise between off-road and high-street. They come with big wheels, excellent suspension, and are built in a pushchair style, with an option for reversible seating and a carrycot. Brands such as iCandy, Easywalker and Bugaboo have produced some excellent models to take a look at.
Wheels
All-terrain pushchairs are a must if you live in the countryside or take your child for regular walks through rough terrain. These pushchairs have larger wheels on the back of regular pushchairs, which allows them to handle rough terrain better and provide an easier ride for your child. Many also come with a robust suspension and puncture-proof models which make them suitable for use on grass, woodland or forest paths, gravel tracks and market town cobbles.
Some all-terrain strollers also come with a lockable wheel at the front which provides extra stability when walking over rough terrain or on high kerbs. Some models have swivel wheels at the front which allows you to move the buggy more easily in case you want to change direction or turn corners.
All-terrain pushchairs come with air-filled tyres which offer excellent shock absorption and are great for rough terrain, but they're more prone to punctures than solid EVA tyres found on city strollers, therefore it's a good idea to invest in repair kits along with a spare inner tube and pump alongside your pushchair. Some models come with foam tyres that are less likely to puncture but may be harder to push.

It also has a great suspension system and large rear puncture-proof wheels which are ideal for off-road and jogging use (once your child is old enough). The model can also be used from birth with a carrycot as well as a lying-flat chair.
The iCandy Peach All-Terrain is another option. It has large tires, a single steering wheel in the front and big tyres. It's not as pliable as the other all-terrain pushchairs on this list but it does handle hilly terrain and has an ample one-handed fold that is ideal if you plan to be using the pushchair for long walks or excursions to the countryside. It is also suitable for babies and comes with a large canopy that extends with an adjustable handlebar and a hugely-sized basket.
Storage
There are excellent all-terrain pushchairs for parents who would like to take their child off-road but don't wish to tackle Ben Nevis. They provide the best of both. Look for a model that has good all-terrain capabilities, sturdy suspension and large puncture-proof wheels, yet is built in a traditional pushchair design with reversible seating and full carrycot options.
UPPAbaby's popular Ridge all-terrain pushchair is a perfect example of this; it offers excellent suspension, a simple fold and a huge 10kg basket, but it also comes with features for parents that are child-friendly, like an adjustable handlebar, a hand-operated brake on the right and a large covered storage space. The hood can be taken off and washed with cool soapy water to avoid mould or mildew.
If you're going to be driving your all-terrain pushchair off road, it's worth opting for air-filled tyres, rather than those with rubber grips. They'll provide an easier ride on rough terrain and will make it easier to maneuver in tight spaces. If you plan to use your all-terrain stroller for occasional jogging, be sure the front wheel can pivot or has a quick release facility to lock it in place for greater stability.
It's important to check the fabric of your pushchair to ensure it can be machine washed to keep them in perfect condition. If not, spot cleaning with warm water and a bit of soap gentle enough should be sufficient. Drying the fabric thoroughly outdoors can also prevent the growth of mould and mildew.
