Item Upgrading The Process Isn't As Hard As You Think
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.
For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using less Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level with normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.
The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure what can be improved upon a reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a significant chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also give the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Using a Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For example that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. item upgrades requires a different amount of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player improves an item, the base item will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This can be a downside since the item may be more expensive even if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). This item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to raise the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, armor, and trinkets) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state which means that the player has to pay for more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is computed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For example they may require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the costs mentioned above.
