Israel launched a ‘pre-emptive strike’ against Iran

Israel launched a ‘pre-emptive strike against Iran to eliminate the threat,’ according to a statement from the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s press service.
‘The State of Israel has launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran in order to eliminate the threat to Israel. Defence Minister [Israel – ed.] Katz has signed a special decree declaring a state of emergency throughout the State of Israel,’ the statement said.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry believes that in the near future, Iran may use unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles to strike Israel and its civilian population.
At the same time, the army press service reported that the Israeli Home Front Command had changed its instructions to the population and imposed a ban on gatherings, business operations and educational activities.
Earlier, Politico wrote that advisers to White House chief Donald Trump would prefer Israel to strike Iran first, as this would provoke Tehran into retaliatory actions, which would become a ‘pretext’ for US action.
