Is it worth getting a travel towel?

Yes! The answer to that question is obvious, and you will not regret a purchase of a travel towel. It is so nice to have a towel that dries quickly and stays fresh during the trip.

The thing is that even though it gets wet, it still works to dry itself, unlike a cotton towel. They are just twisted out of it, so it gets slightly damp. The last time we used our travel towels was when we were on the train, and we really appreciated them!

A few more tips

Attach a carabiner to your backpack to be able to air dry it on the road

A smart tip is to buy a slightly larger carabiner that you attach to the outside of your backpack. Then you can attach your towel either to the loop or thread it through the carabiner and let it air dry.

You can also use the carabiner to attach the storage bag or storage bag to your towel on the outside of the bag. This means that it can both dry if it is damp but it also becomes more easily accessible.

Complement the towel with a sarong

Another smart tip is to bring a sarong as a complement to your travel towel. They are thin and light, take up little space and act as both sunscreen and blanket.

Sizes of travel towels

The sizes usually vary from XS-XXL, so there is a lot to choose from. It is important to know that it is not only the size itself but also the shape that makes the difference. Some are more square than others and vice versa.

In general, you can say that XL is what you want to be able to use as a bath towel when you bathe, and you can easily supplement with an S or M as a towel when you, e.g., washes hands and face.

How to wash your travel towel

Since the travel towels are made of microfiber, it is important that you wash them correctly. Most microfiber towels can be washed in a washing machine without being destroyed, but there are a few things you should keep in mind.

Do not wash them in too hot water. Read what applies to your towel before washing it.

Do not use fabric softener as it may affect the function of the towel.

Do not tumble dry your travel towel. If you do so, tumble dry at low power.

Make sure the towel is completely dry before unpacking it for long-term storage.
