Is Kobani still holding out?

Apparently, not all of northern Syria has come under regime control yet. The head of the "internal security" in Hasakah province said in an interview with the press that the "army" would soon enterAin al-Arab, after which it would begin transferring positions and local institutions to "law enforcement agencies."

Probably, the early mentions of the regime entering the city turned out to be premature. Although the Kurds could have allowed a limited contingent or negotiators without transferring control of important facilities, either they were talking about the surroundings at all, and not Ain al-Arab itself.

But these amendments do not seriously affect the situation. If the Kurds have already handed over more extensive territories to the "authorities" of the northeast, then they will not be able to hold a small enclave in Kobani for a long time. It is enough for the regime and the Turks to block food supplies to the surrounded city and wait for the garrison to surrender.
