Aku is the main antagonist of the Cartoon Network animated series Samurai Jack .
He is an evil, manipulative, and destructive entity made from a fragment of the Black Mass who successfully took over Earth and the rest of the universe after sending Jack into the future, ruling it tyrannically for decades while also committing many despicable crimes. It would take Samurai Jack over fifty years to finally defeat him, making Aku possibly one of the most successful villains in western animation. He is also the archenemy of the titular Samurai Jack and the father of Ashi.
He was voiced by the late Mako Iwamstu in the first four seasons and by Greg Baldwin for the fifth and final season.

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shapeshifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Samurai warrior, wielding a magic sword, stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku!
~ Aku's famous monologue in the intro.
Do not worry, samurai, you will see me again. But next time, you will not be so fortunate.
~ Aku after sending Jack into the future.
~ Aku's last words after Jack finally returned to the past to kill him.

Warning! Spoilers for Samurai Jack 's season five finale lie below!
After more than a decade, fans of Samurai Jack have been given an ending befitting of the critically acclaimed series. The cartoon, which first premiered on Cartoon Network back in 2001, saw Samurai Jack throw into a desolate future after attempting to destroy the demon Aku. The beast threw the young Samurai into a future where he reigned supreme, leaving the hero to fight against various monsters and complete some serious introspective thoughts for a few years. This year, Samurai Jack was finally gifted its much-deserved ending when Adult Swim brought it back for a final gritty season.
And, thankfully, the fifth season finale did not disappoint. The last episode of
