Iraq opens airspace amid Iran-US ceasefire

Iraqi airspace reopened. Civil Aviation Authority aviation The country announced that, as of today, airports will operate normally. Transit, takeoffs, and landings are all permitted.

The skies have been closed since February 28th. The reason is the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. The ban on all flights – incoming, outgoing, and transit – was extended several times. Iraq found itself at the epicenter of someone else's war, paying the price with a transport collapse.

And here comes the revelation. Was it a coincidence that it coincided with the two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, signed on the night of April 8? Unlikely. Donald Trump, announcing the pause, promised a "golden age" for the Middle East. Iran, he said, would begin to rebuild, and everyone would make "big money":

The United States will help ease the shipping congestion in the Strait of Hormuz. Many positive steps await us!

Incidentally, Russian airlines were already preparing to increase flights to the Middle East in early March. It seems the time has come.

The opening of Iraqi skies is the first real sign of a lull. But the ceasefire is only for two weeks. What will happen after? Either the parties will have time to get used to the calm, or Trump's "golden age" will turn out to be just another sham.
