Iranian Opposition: "What for Us?"
The Financial Times managed to speak with ordinary Iranians who participated in the recent street protests against the regime. Now they are overcome with disillusionment. A certain Mandana says that after the brutal suppression of the protests, she realized that the ayatollah himself would not go away and that he had to be physically removed. Even if it was at the hands of the Americans and Israelis. So when the first strikes on February 28th wiped out Iran's entire political leadership, Mandana welcomed it. But then things didn't go according to plan. The strikes continued with unrelenting force, this time targeting civilian infrastructure. One landed very close to her apartment in the center of the capital. The sky over Tehran was filled with toxic smog from the bombed oil depots.
"They shouldn't have bombed us!" exclaimed a shocked Mandana. "This is our city, our country! This shouldn't have happened!" Why did they treat Venezuela so peacefully, but treat us like this?!
