Instructions for Recording a Video

JogJoy

🏃 To analyze your running technique, our AI needs a short video of your run. The pace you run at in the video isn't very important, but keep in mind that your technique might change with different paces. Therefore, we recommend you get into your usual running pace before entering the frame, as this is how you run during more than 80% of your training sessions.

➖Find a flat section of 30-50 meters without turns, inclines, bumps, or obstacles you need to jump over.

☀️Daylight is best for visibility. To ensure our AI doesn’t analyze a well-lit tree in the background instead of you, record during daylight hours. It’s also safer this way 😁. Trees in the background are fine, but ideally, the background should be plain, making you the star of the short film “Running Track/Treadmill .” A contrasting outfit stands out better against a plain background, and the absence of other runners helps the AI focus on you.

A flat section with only you in the frame, plain background

🚥 Record horizontally. This is science, not reels for Insta. Set up your device on a tripod or any stable support about 6-8 meters from where you'll be running. A friend can also works as a tripod if he/she can standing for a few seconds and not run after you each time seeing your running.

Keep the camera stable, showing your full strides

🎞️Stop, cut! Editing... From the 30 seconds of your effort, you’ll end up with about 5 seconds of video. Keep 5-10 steps where you are fully in the frame and running straight perpendicularly to the camera’s “view”. It will be better, if the video's size is less than 20MB

No need to slow it down. If it ends up with 4 steps instead of 5, that's also OK

Here's an example of an appropriate video:

Overall, other videos will work, but the chance of getting accurate results is higher with a video recorded according to these instructions
