Instagram Had Down, 6,000 Users Affected


Instagram turned out to be down for a number of users. Although it didn't take place massively, a number of users had complained about the Instagram service experiencing problems.


However, Instagram ensures that the service is now back to normal and can be used again.


"We're back! If you had trouble accessing yesterday, now your account should be working normally," Instagram said in its Twitter post, as quoted by Reuters, Tuesday (3/8/2021).


Citing the downdetector.com site detection page, Instagram errors were felt by at least 6,000 users.


According to a report in Downdetector, a number of users have complained about Instagram being down with various problems. Downdetector also said there may be more users affected by the Instagram error than reported.


Previously, Instagram in a tweet said it knew there was a problem with a number of Instagram users.


"We know there are some people who are currently having trouble accessing, we will fix this," Instagram said in a tweet.

Instagram down was trending on Twitter's timeline a few hours ago. Most of the complaints come from English speaking users.


According to the Downdetector live map, Instagram down was felt by users in the United States and other countries.


Most user complaints are not being able to access the news feed and having difficulty loading.


Apart from Instagram which was down, previously this social media network introduced several features aimed at making Facebook's social media safer for the teenage age group.


One is that Instagram will automatically set accounts for new users under 16 (or 18 in certain countries) to be private by default, although they will still have the option of setting it to public.


Reported by The Verge, Thursday (29/7/2021), while users who are underage with public accounts, will receive a notification to encourage them to switch to a private account.


In addition, Instagram is also introducing changes to how ads target users under 18.
