Inspiring baccarat bets start at Macau level, manager says

South Korea's new Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort on Saturday opened a second-tier foreign-only casino offering 150 table games, 390 slot machines and 160 e-table games, including a live dealer stadium.

The property expects betting prices to start at around W50,000 for live baccarat games on the popular market, although they are dynamic based on demand levels. That equates to around HK$292, thus similar to the bottom end of Macau's public live dealer table gaming division.

This information was provided by Lucas Cai, vice president of gaming. He was previously vice president of gaming at Marina Bay Sands Casino Resort in Singapore, which is run by Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

He talked to GGRAsia about possible operating environments on the eve of the launch of the Mohegan Inspire's casino. The Mass Play Zone is directly upstairs from the first floor, and the VIP Zone is upstairs from the Mass Play Zone. The property opened the first phase of the no-game facility on Nov. 30. It has 1,275 hotel rooms, 11 restaurants, and 15,000-seat stadiums.

"Table minimum bets are very dynamic because they change based on the demand we see on the floor. We have different price ranges to suit different groups of players," Mr Tsai said of the newly-launched gaming facility.

"For example, baccarat will probably start at around W50,000. Our premium mass market will offer a higher minimum bet. We also have a higher average daily theoretical loss range for premium mass customers. It ranges from W2 million to W2.5 million," Cai added.

"We are bringing the latest products to the market that we hope to bring energy and vitality to the domestic market," he said in terms of popular market slot machines and electronic table games.

Mr. Cai mentioned the casino customer base for properties near Incheon International Airport, promoted by the Mohegan Tribune Gaming Authority, which trades as Mohegan Gaming. "There are several target markets. Japan is obviously a big market and leads many of the current business levels for existing "Korean foreigner-only casinos."
