If you aren't caught up on Insecure yet, you really should fire up your friend's cousin's neighbor's HBO Go account right now. It might be the realest show on TV these days, and it's the perfect answer for those of us who can't stand watching Girls anymore (but will still watch the last season just to see if Shoshanna ever recovers from her Japan trip). Seriously, the whole thing is four hours long (does that even count as bingewatching?), you don't have Game of Thrones for a while longer, and both Atlanta and Westworld ain't coming back until 2018. Essentially, there's no excuse not to watch Insecure at this point, and you'll gain an appreciation for the term "broken pussy" like you've never had before.
Anyway, since it's HBO's latest hit, you know there's a decent amount of sex and nudity in it. Here are the five sex scenes we'll never forget from the first season of Insecure .
Studio Luv
Despite her early attempts to get on the right track with her boyfriend Lawrence, it took Issa a whopping five episodes before she finally gave in to her lust for her "what if" man, Daniel, whom she's had feelings for since college. She knew as soon as she entered the booth in his private recording studio that she was feeling some type of way about her old flame, but took it a step too far when they decided to play the always classic game of “what could’ve been.” Upon seeing Daniel’s washboard abs, Lawrence and his Captain Crunch-eating, couch-sitting self were suddenly a distant memory.
Fixing a Broken Pussy
In the quest to fix her possibly "broken pussy," Molly's elongated string of unsuccessful dates and relationships eventually leads her to Jared, a man she'd met a few nights prior who seemed to have everything she was looking for. After introducing him to the squad, she learns that not only is he easygoing, confident, and funny, but that he also didn’t go to college (by choice) and works for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. This conflicts with her high-strung lawyer personality, so she chooses to waste some more of her time on another series of dates with wealthy, career-driven men. Once she realizes they’re not what she's looking for either, she drunkenly shows up at Jared’s house to apologize before passing out on his couch. Though he isn’t quick to forgive her, he is kind enough to offer her some Cookie Crisp out of the box before banging it out up against the wall and sending her on her way.

Home-Cooked Loving
Jared’s sexual domination the first time around was exactly what Molly wanted, so she invited him over for a home-cooked meal, compliments of Chrissy Teigen's DIY book of feasts, Cravings. (After all, who else would you turn to when you want to impress someone with your cooking for the first time?) She barely opens the door to greet him before Jared has her bent over the kitchen counter. Because the evening’s festivities wouldn’t have been the same without her, Molly makes sure to give a very vocal “Thank you!” to Teigen while they're going at it. Jared replies, “Have you tried Blue Apron?”

Molly's Oral Dilemma
Insecure isn't the first show to take on the issue of dating a dude who's previously experimented with guys before, but it certainly cuts straight to the point after Molly finds out that Jared (who at this point is clearly the most relevant and fitting of her many short-term boos) once fooled around with another man. Following a lengthy discussion with her friends over what it means, Molly ultimately has to cut the cord with Jared after watching his head bob up and down while going down on her. Hey, sex is just as mental as it is physical and sometimes you just can't un-see certain things.
Lawrence Finally Gets His
For the entire second half of the season, the most riveting storyline running through Insecure is whether Lawrence will find out about Issa's studio fling with Daniel — and whether their relationship will survive if he does. After finally discovering the truth at the end of the penultimate episode, Lawrence (who's a sympathetic and complex character even if he's initially introduced as the do-nothing boyfriend, but that's a conversation for another time) takes his first hard-earned check, hits the strip club, and then heads over to get it on with the bank teller who's been pursuing him for damn near the entire season. Even if it ends with a heartbroken Issa seeing nothing but the sad-looking Best Buy shirt hanging in their old apartment, it's the climax for Lawrence going from a lazy pushover to doing something (er, someone) with his life.

Tovrea Castle, the enigmatic and iconic Valley landmark.

It’s one of the most unique and enigmatic buildings in the Valley, spotted by hundreds of thousands of people during their daily commutes. But only a select number have actually seen inside.
Tovrea Castle, the wedding cake-shaped tiered structure perched atop a small hill near Van Buren and 52nd streets in east Phoenix, is an iconic landmark that’s viewable from the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway. It’s been a regal part of the local landscape for more than 90 years and is generally off-limits to visitors unless you’re lucky enough to score a ticket for one of its public tours.
If you’ve ever wanted to see inside the castle, now’s your chance. The Tovrea Castle Society, which oversees and maintains the property, is holding a ticket lottery for tours happening this fall.
Society president Tamera Zivic tells Phoenix New Times they’re accepting entries from now until Wednesday, June 30, for the lottery, which will sell 20,000 tickets for public tours taking place every weekend from September through December. And the competition is fierce.

It’s the second time the society has held a lottery for tour tickets, which were previously sold online on a first-come, first-served basis. They received an estimated 700,000 entries when the first lottery was held in December 2020 for the castle’s spring tours.
“Because of the pandemic, we had fewer tickets available — like maybe a quarter of what we’re selling [for the fall]. The demand was huge and things sold rather briskly,” Zivic says. “We do get people from around the globe who are visiting Arizona and want to see some of our landmarks or historic sites, but primarily it's local people who are entering the lottery.”
What’s the attraction? Zivic says there’s a certain mystery to the building, which only opened to the public within the last decade. Originally built in 1929 by Italian immigrant, gold miner, and entrepreneur Alessio Carraro (who originally intended it to become a hotel), it was sold to meat-packing magnate Edward Tovrea in the 1930s and became a home for his widow, Della, after his death a few years later.
The city of Phoenix purchased Tovrea Castle and the surrounding property in 1993 and eventually refurbished the historic building. The society formed in 2011 and began holding tours a year later to help support the castle’s upkeep.
“So there’s a lot of history behind the castle and people are just curious about it,” Zivic says. “People who've lived here for a very long time want to know more about it, like ‘What the heck is that thing out there? What’s inside?’ Other people around the world have heard about and are quite interested in it also. But it's mainly locals of all ages who've just seen it their whole life and want to know what's going on there.”
Zivic says tickets typically sell out in less than 10 minutes whenever they’ve been offered to the public. As a result, the society decided in 2020 to hold a lottery instead “in order to make things more fair.”
You'll have to win a ticket lottery to enter.
Even then, there are limitations. Tours, which are led by a society docent and take approximately 75 minutes, only cover the castle’s first floor and basement, which include its foyer, great room, and kitchen. Visitors will get to see plenty of vintage, Art Deco-style decor and furnishings throughout the rooms, as well as a video detailing what’s on the building’s upper floors.
Zivic says it's due to issues with the fire code (there aren’t sufficient exits upstairs, for instance) and also to cap the number of tours and visitors each year because of occupancy limits and to preserve the castle.
“We could be doing tours 24/7 because of demand, but we don’t want to take this historic site that the city of Phoenix refurbished and run it into the ground with lots of people going through it,” she says. “We make sure that everybody gets a great tour and gets to see a lot when they’re here.”
And if you’d like to be one of the lucky few to see Tovrea Castle this fall, here’s what involved with the lottery: Entries will be accepted via the society’s website until June 30. In addition to providing your name, email, and other personal and contact info, you’ll be asked to select three possible tour dates on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday between September and December and how many tickets (for up to four people) you’d like to purchase.
In early July, Zivic says a computer will randomly select winners, who will then be contacted by email with their tour date and time over the following weeks. You’ll have 72 hours to purchase tickets, which are $22 per person. (Kids 2 and under are free with a paid adult admission.)
Tickets can only be purchased by those 18 or over and only one entry will be allowed per person.
If any winners fail to respond in time or are unable to purchase tickets, another lottery entrant will be selected and contacted.
“If things don’t work out, we reach out to the next people in line for that date and time to see if they're interested in tour tickets,” she says. “So even if you’re not contacted right away, don’t lose hope. There’s always a chance. It does take a little time to finalize who’s getting the tickets.”
If necessary, ticketholders can also cancel with 72 hours' notice, which Zivic says has happened with previous tours.
“People put in for a certain date and time and then realize, ‘Oh gosh, I have a chance to go on a last-minute cruise of a lifetime,' or they end up having to work that day. Whatever the reason, they're not able to take the tour that they were offered, so after they cancel, we’ll try finding someone else. It isn’t hard. So many people are interested.”

Indoor fun centers often serve a particular demographic. The ones for children are stocked with mini rides and trampolines, while others targeting adults tout their cocktails and lounge space. Amazing Jake's is that rare space that does a good job entertaining everyone; kiddos have amenities like a teacup ride and mini bowling, and adults have bumper cars, billiards, a carnival midway, bowling, laser tag, and two full bars.
Before you pick a metro Phoenix Bowlero location to head to, you should decide what you want to do when you get there. North Scottsdale has beer pong, Christown has foosball and shuffleboard, and Gilbert has laser tag. Castles N' Coasters has a full arcade and laser tag, and if you feel like venturing outside once the sun sets, you've got options like rides, mini golf, and bumper boats.
