The healthcare system in Indonesia is modern and well-equipped. It has one of Asia's best healthcare facilities. Foreign nationals must still verify their hygiene and immunizations prior to entering the country. Foreigners traveling to Indonesia should carry an Indonesia Health Alert Card and proof of insurance. Foreigners who are below 18 years of age, foreigners working or studying in Indonesia, or any other foreigner not having permanent resident status in the country need to have an Indonesian Health Alert Card. Foreigners who are above the age limit but lacking a card still need to have one.

The current Indonesian health protocol requires all foreign nationals coming to the country to show either a COVID 19 vaccination certificate or an Indonesian Certificate of Disease Registration. A CO VID 19 vaccination certificate is required for foreigners who travel to Indonesia. Both these vaccinations are approved by the World Health Organization and are recommended for all visitors to Indonesia. Foreign nationals who travel to Indonesia must have their immunization records from their country of permanent residence. Anyone who travels to Indonesia from another country and is unable or unwilling to obtain their immunization records there must have an Indonesia health alert card.

Both countries share a commonality in healthcare issues and both are committed to maintaining high-quality healthcare systems. In Indonesia, the Indonesian Medicine Council (MMD) is the central coordinating body for medical affairs. All health facilities in Indonesia follow set clinical standards, which are based on the principle of natural prevention using traditional and western medications. Both the Indonesian Certificate of Disease Registration and the CO VID 19 vaccination are strictly followed. Similarly, all foreign medical staff are required to have a certificate of clearance from the local Ministry of Health, and a health alert card issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

The private sector is Indonesia's primary healthcare system. Most private hospitals in major cities are government-owned. Many private hospitals in Indonesia offer quality health services to their patients free of cost or at a subsidized rate. Private hospitals in Indonesia may refuse to accept patients without a passport or other proofs. Others may refuse foreign patients unless they provide proof of insurance. The healthcare system in Indonesia is highly structured and the role of hospitals is primarily to administer hospitals and nursing homes. Healthcare providers rely on the Indonesian Ministry of Health for allocating resources and will cooperate with all foreign nationals seeking admission into their hospital.

For foreign nationals who travel to Indonesia, quarantine is a common concern. In the past, Indonesian authorities have quarantined people for reasons that were not always obvious despite taking adequate precautions for the duration of the stay. For example, a previous Australian restriction caused many of the B visa holders to become unable to leave Bali. This caused a large influx in Australian citizens looking for employment. Australia initially responded by declaring Bali "Quarantine zone", effectively closing off the entire island to Australian residents. Due to this and other risks, it is important that all individuals applying for a non-immigrant visa understand what conditions they will be expected to abide by once in Indonesia.

The health declaration form provides basic information on the status of any foreign national wishing to live in Indonesia. The form also requires the individual's name, contact details, and date of birth. There are specific requirements concerning foreign students and those applying for work, which are outlined on the form. As well as providing information on the number of days of stay, the Indonesian citizens are required to list any family members who are settled in Indonesia, the name of any dependents and where they reside.
